that his father had passed away.

Colonel Nail flew F-100'S and F-105's in 2 tours in Vietnam

Being a Thud Driver over North Vietnam was very hazardous duty during the mid-late 1960's.

He has my condolences. I thought perhaps some of you might like the opportunity to express the same. Nail is an Okie and loves his Sooners. But there are tiimes when sports and politics are not important.

Damn. Hate to hear that, Nail. Will keep you and your family in my prayers. Have always liked the Sooners and their fans since we had our series in 2002 and 2003. We lost both games but played over our heads both years. Franny bolted after the 2002 season. In the offseason, a Sooner fan came to our Bama board to discuss our game coming up that season. After our game, he posted on our board that the Sooners would beat A&M for us (Franny's new team), and the band would play Yeah Alabama during the game. We thought, yeah whatever. Sure enough, Oklahoma won 77-0, the OU band played the song, and there was a Roll Tide chant so loud that Brent Musberger acknowledged it on air in the 3rd quarter. Dude came back to the board after the game and said promises made, promises kept LOL

I served in VN (Operational Intelligence) in the late 60's also, so sorry to hear that another fellow VN Vet has passed. :(

Condolences and prayers for Nail and his family from the iG...

The fighter pilot was a strange breed. After dismounting his craft, we saluted as we waited to fuel his plane with JP-4. He would have a look as "what are we wasting our time doing this for?" then would return the salute. The B-52 and KC-135 tanker pilots were strictly gung ho.
