Football Walk-Ons Who Could Help

Thanks for the link ocala. :)

I've always been a 'Walk-On' support kind of fan. I never like to hear anyone diss on a 'scrub' like they are somehow unimportant or unworthy of respect. o_O

Nick Vilano, OL, 6-3, 312 — This preferred walk-on from Wellington has yet to play in a game, but he’s impressed his coaches and some of the UF defensive linemen with his tough, solid play on the scout team the past three seasons. He appears ready to contribute. He helps give the Gators some much-needed depth at offensive tackle positions.

I'd give this kid a shot at some playing time ahead of either Fred Johnson or Tyler Jordan, unless those two 50/50's learn how to improve their own work ethic and consistency.... :cool:

====================

There are a couple of dozen listed as 'Athletes' that could be at smaller schools and playing, but they wanted a UF degree and to be Gators more. I salute them for their steady work and never ending effort.

I also wish that floridagators.com would list their HS positions and history in their Bio's.

Yep but he was a 3 star and offered scholarships at non Power 5 programs so not really a walk on like most people think of it. Rivals even shows Washington State offered him but not sure if that is accurate.

Is Joege Powell still on the roster? Is he considered a Walk on? Is he probably going to get some kicks in until the freshman is ready for the big show.

It's great that they will have a rock solid and experienced backup kicker in Powell.

Summer of 2014 W-O (I don't know if anyone has 'shipped' him since then)
2017: Saw action in two contests as UF’s backup kicker… Registered a pair of onside kick attempts on the season against Missouri and Florida State… Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…
2016: Appeared in two games as he served as the backup kicker throughout the season… Was used in an onside kick scenario at Tennessee…
2015: Appeared in four games before suffering a season-ending injury against LSU... Hit a career-long 31 yard field goal against Ole Miss... Handled the kickoff duties when active...
2014: Did not see any game action and redshirted.

247 has him as their #1 Kicker, and he's the No. 1 kicker in the 2018 class per Kohl’s Kicking. After their various kicking camps finished, Kohl called him -- “the nation’s best FG kicker.” (and the #5 punter)

Evan McPherson has leg strength to spare, much like his predecessor (Eddy-Eddy), having kicked a 60-yard field goal during a HS game this year — it was the 2nd-longest FG in the annals of Alabama HS football. (Evan-Evan) He also kicked an 80+ yard punt.

KOHL'S COMMENTS
McPherson was dominant at his last five Kohl's ranking camps with the latest being the 2017 National Scholarship Camp. No one in the country has made more FG during that span than McPherson. He has been a perfect 20-20 on charted FG at the last two Showcase camps along with a camp leading 17 FG makes at the UC Challenge and 27 and 26 points at the last two National Scholarship Camps. His confidence in his ability to hit clean field goals is impressive. His ball striking is repeatable, it explodes off his foot and his ability to call on his "A" ball is D1 ready right now. He has one of the premier kickoff legs in the 2018 class. He showed that by winning the kickoff competition at the 2017 Underclassman Challenge. He is currently ahead of the entire 2018 field in his ability to lock in and hit the same ball rep after rep. He is a high level punter, but his greatest strength is as the nation's best FG kicker. McPherson has continued to prove throughout his career that he can make field goals. He has been the most highly sought after recruit in the 2018 class and earned an invite to the Under Armour All-American Game!
