The Gators' 2020 season will officially begin with a road game at Ole Miss. The SEC announced the conference's Week 1 matchups, which will be played on Sept. 26, on Monday on the Paul Finebaum Show.

The rest of the team's schedule will be unveiled at 7 p.m. ET on the SEC Network in a special airing.

Now Mullen can begin to prepare his plan for the season opener. Later tonight, he'll be able to plan out the entire season.

"We'll play whoever they put in front of us," Mullen said. "I mean, we know who we're playing, the order I guess comes out tonight so we will find that out. Would have loved to have known that last week. ... It would have been great to use that time to prepare for the order of who you're playing. But we'll figure that out when it comes out tonight. We'll be all right."

A good away game test to begin the season.

The rsFr and Fr WR's need to get their minds right and work their butts off in their play books and with their timing with the QB's.

Isn’t it awesome to have a coach who always says the right thing?

Other than Georgia....thats a pretty easy schedule imo, no Auburn, LSU, or bama

Edit: nvr mind i couldnt see LSU becuz of the yellow highlighter color.

Worst I see for you is aTm and LSU back to back. We get Auburn-Tenn-Bama. But our back half is kinda sweet

As a Gator, I really like your schedule.

If I were to rank your opponents, your last four are 6,7,8,9. So in the first 6 weeks, with a brand new QB and brand new offense, you get 5 of your 6 toughest opponents. I see no way you beat Auburn week 2, or Bama week 4. Tennessee is vastly overrated, but Kentucky is sneaky good. I can see you being 2-3 when we play. More likely 3-2, but I really think a loss to UK is a solid possibility.

Oh, and then there's our game. Do I think we beat you? Of course. But then, I always do.

What's funny is, this same schedule, if back loaded instead of front loaded, could have ended up an 8-2 or even 9-1 season. You will be pretty good once the offense gets figured out. If you had mostly easy games at the front, and you could have eased into the season, things would have been much better for you. But as it stands, you will be 3-3 or 2-4 after our game, and then you will take out your frustration on a bunch of pansy teams for the final month. It's actually a very Tennessee-type schedule.

I like our schedule. The biggest concern would normally be the TAMU game, but they rely on a huge home field advantage from their crazy fans. They really feed off the crowd's energy. But, with no crazy fans, I think we out-talent them.

After that, of course, is LSU, the defending champs. And we get no home field advantage from our fans either. But they are putting in a new offense and a new QB, and lost a ton of talent. I feel good about that game.

Then Georgia, but they ALSO have a new QB and a new offense, and their QB hasn't even been able to throw with the receivers. I mean, nobody's has this year, but he has NEVER thrown with the receivers. There is no way they will be on the same page. I know the fleas are confident, but if it were MY team with a new OC, a new and very different scheme, a starting transfer QB, a new starting RB, and 4 new starting OL, I would have sense enough to be very concerned.

After that, the opponents drop off sharply.

I feel very good about our chances for 10-0.

Tennessee has So Car and Mizzou to start the season. They could very well be the worst team in history with an 8 game winning streak. But I will retract that statement if they beat Georgia and get to 9 in a row.

But they do have TAMU Auburn and Florida as 3 of the last 4. So no cakewalk the back half of the season in 2020 for the Vols.

We own Auburn. Wishful thinking brother.

Thoughts, after looking at our schedule & UGA's

Florida’s Schedule.....................................Georgia's Schedule
Sep. 26 — At Ole Miss................................At Arkansas
Oct. 3 — South Carolina............................Auburn
Oct. 10 — At Texas A&M...........................Tennessee
Oct. 17 — LSU ..........................................At Alabama
Oct. 24 — Missouri.....................................AT Kentucky - edit per LG89
Oct. 31 — BYE...........................................BYE
Nov. 7 — Georgia......WLOCP in Jax........Florida
Nov. 14 — Arkansas..................................At Missouri
Nov. 21 — At Vanderbilt.............................Miss State
Nov. 28 — Kentucky...................................At South Carolina
Dec 5. — At Tennessee.............................Vanderbilt

SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy calls Florida - Georgia the biggest game in the SEC this year.

Gators - first & last games on the road. Bye week for both teams before WLOCP. SOS for UF & UGA fairly even.

Opening games for both UF & UGA are on the road against opponents with new HC & uncertainty at QB.

Gators have 3 home games & 2 away games in their first five contests

EDIT per LG89 - Georgia has 2 home and 3 away in the first 5. The Jax game is their 5th home game.

Both teams have 2 home & 2 away in their last 4.

As several posters have pointed out, UGA schedule is front loaded with Auburn & Alabama.

IMO, aTm & LSU on a par with Auburn & Bama & much tougher than Kentucky & Tennessee, so Gator's schedule is also front loaded.

Even though it's between the hedges, by the time they play, Mike Leach & Miss State should be an interesting game for UGA. Possibly the same for UF with Arkansas & Franks.

Urban Meyer once told the media that a nightmare scenario for his program would be a standout local athlete signing elsewhere and then coming back to beat the Gators.

Mullen - "Having to play them (Arkansas) this year kind of brings up things that, I don’t know how good that is for anybody. But it’ll be unique. I know he (Franks) will be motivated to play us. I’m sure our guys probably will be motivated to play him because it’s a little more personal, you know him. I don’t know if that’s a great thing or not.”

On paper, SEC staff did a good job leveling out schedules for UF & UGA.

But no one knows how Pandemic will play out & influence games.

2020 NCAA Preseason Top 25 Poll

Teams that #9 UF will play.

3. UA - Likely SECw-C,,, In SEC-C, IF #9 UF wins the SECe

4. LSU - UF's annual SECw opponent

5. UGA - WLOCP in Jax

13. aTm - away
=====

We start off the season with an away game vs MS & Kiffin.

We get NR SCa at home, but remember, they beat 12-2 UGly in Athens in 2019.

The upset specials for 2020 are a 6-6 Mizzou and 8-5 UK.

Then just for fun, throw in Ark/Franks, and @ VU in late Nov.

Finish off the season @ 9-3 Tennis-sea in freakin' December

Just another easy 'walk in the park' for the Gators, right?

Auburn isn’t beating UGA. Malzahn isn’t a good coach other than he somehow manages to beat Bama every now and then. He will be fired soon enough.

Not you too.

Remember when Mullen came in? He had spring practice to introduce the new offense, summer for players to get together and work, and fall practice to review. It was barely enough time to get the base offense down. We had a returning QB, too. We scored 16 on Kentucky, and 13 on Ms State in the early going, because they had good defenses.

Now look at Georgia. No Spring practice. No summer working together. 25 practices before the season starts. You know what Georgia's top 2 QB's did the first day? INTRODUCED THEMSELVES. If it took us half the season for the team to really get comfortable in the new offense, how long will it take Georgia? How much of the playbook will they have mastered by week 1? 25%? 20%? less?

Auburn is the second game of the season. Arky is the first, and they will roll over. Barely a test. Auburn will bring things the Dwags haven't practiced against. After Auburn wins the game I am going to start a thread called

"I TOLD YOU SO".

I would love it if you are right. But I believe UGAs defense will be the difference in that game
