Did LSU just.....

Posters on this board not the only ones to call B S on this move !

Opinions from
Adam Gorney and Mike Farrell

LSU's self-imposing a bowl ban at 3-5 is an empty gesture.

Farrell’s take: FACT. It’s a joke, honestly, but this is what programs do. They offer up weak self sanctions to try to lessen the blow from the NCAA and it often works. A possible 3-6 team giving up a bowl game? It’s actually quite comical and a tip of the hat to LSU for creativity.
Gorney's take: FACT. Usually, when schools self-impose violations they're begging for the NCAA to not hammer them with stricter measures, but in this case that's pretty much inevitable. A self-imposed bowl ban when the team is 3-5? That's almost a favor to the players who won't have to spend time in some far-off destination in a bowl game that the players really don't care about, especially after winning the national championship last season.
With some serious alleged violations including a sexual assault issue, LSU could be in for some significant penalties if things prove out to be true. A self-imposed bowl ban is a joke.

If anybody would like the inside scoop from someone that lives in Louisiana and listens to local ESPN radio, you need but ask.

I'll tell you anyway.

*takes deep breath*
Okay so the athletic director at LSU used to work for Mark Emmerich (head of the NCAA) and they aren't just old work buddies, but the LSU AD's son is married to Emmerich's daughter so he probably just called him up and pitched some ideas that would work. Also, LSU is desperate to get the football issues finalized and off the books before the basketball investigation is published. Why? Well Ill tell you why. See, they're afraid that if they come out together (although unlinked) that the 4 most dreaded words will be uttered.

"lack of institutional control."

they even went so far as to, in their bowl ban statement, say "working in complete compliance with the NCAA as an act of institutional control."

subtle nod.

also, Matt Moscona, host of ESPN Baton Rouge's After Further Review from 3-6 central is a real gem and perhaps my favorite radio head outside of actual Radiohead and my former favorite, Ryen Rusillo.

Nice to have a mole in the LSU footprint.
