Dementia Joe is at again:

Talks of all semi-auto weapons being banned. Moving the age to 21 before you can own or purchase a gun. What about our military personnel? Should we keep weapons out of soldiers' hands until they reach the age of 21?

kids can drive @ 16 and cars 🚗 killl 20 times more people than guns. Should we raise the driving age to 21 ? How bout military service.

Yes, he's an idiot. I can't imagine how the Dims don't lose the house and the senate this November.
The sad part of this is the Republican leadership in both the House and the Senate aren't much better than what's in charge now.

As much as I want dems ousted from power I'm not looking forward to having that Rino puppet McCarthy being the Speaker OR - and this is even worse - having the turtle man back in charge of the Senate.

Lesser of the two evils, IMO.

I admit that I haven't closely read whatever he proposed, but do you normally have to purchase your own guns when you join the military or police? Outside of small-town posses, I assume weapons are provided.

In the military they provide weapons and specific makes only. We carried Colt 45, Remington 12 ga, and the M16/M60. Those were standard issues and we signed them in/out for each patrol. US customs issues Steyr Aug and you keep those weapons at all times.

Only elite military units are allowed to requisition their own weapons. Everyone else gets issue.

With law enforcement, it depends. JSO gets issued a sidearm, an AR-15, and a shotgun. You can carry an SBR, but you have to get department letterhead to purchase it yourself. I have friends in Georgia that had to purchase their rifles and shotguns, al they were issued was a sidearm.

I can fire my lever-action rifle pretty darn fast. But, I will never surrender one of my rifles or sidearms. Never!

In my department we buy our own sidearm but we're issued our long gun and/or shotgun. We're allowed to buy our own long gun and shotgun too but it must meet specs.

And you're right about the tax stamp for SBR's. But if you get one by using the department letterhead, you are only allowed to use it while on active duty. However, if it's department issued, no such rule applies...unless it's a departmental rule. Clear as mud.

I'm glad we're able to use our own sidearm btw.

I also have one and it's got National Match upgrades.
With my own hand loaded 168 gr Sierra BTHP's to go with it.

Decades ago when I worked security, they tried to issue me a POS Rohm .38 revolver.
Instead, I carried my own Walther P38.

After seeing (inspecting) it, the CEO attempted to buy it from me.
No sale, and I still have it all these years later...
