Hello! I don't think investing the premiums in life insurance is a good idea. Given her age and condition, any insurance company will probably refuse or grant the insurance under unflattering terms. I would be looking for assisted living options if I were in your place. Getting life insurance would most probably result in you spending more than you eventually can get. If you can take care of her independently, better put the money in an account.

The best deal would be able to move as the weather changes but I will bear the long Florida summers before I would ever live somewhere that gets real cold. Felt that when stationed in Korea but maybe being in it for such long periods affected my take on that. I couldn't imagine what being stationed in Alaska would have been like. I think they said Korea was about as cold as upstate NY.
I love the weather in upstate New York (especially in the Fall). I'm a sweater weather kinda guy.

Ah, East TN summers when I was a kid were perfect. Very few people had an air conditioner. Temps were in the 80s during the day and perfect for swimming. Then at night you opened your windows and enjoyed temps in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Sitting outside almost always involved enjoying a mild refreshing breeze.
Throw in crickets, frogs, a cool beverage and the voice of an angel (grandmother) softly singing her favorite gospel hymns. Man I could have stayed 10 yrs old forever.

West Tennessee used to have cool nights but now it's just hot until it's not.
The Plateau was usually 10 degrees cooler than middle or west TN especially in the winter
