Dean possibly moved to Safety

Not sure what to think, but he stunk at corner. Guy got beat a bunch. Then last year he played some at the Gator position and didn't seem to do much better. He's just not very good in coverage.
I was expecting this move all along.
His size and athletic ability seemed to be best served as a FS.
Just moho, and he might prove us all wrong, so we'll see this Spring...

He cant play corner, not baggingvon the kid but safety is his best spot but he still can't cover, just what I've seen

2018: Began the season as a key member of Florida’s special teams units and a reserve defensive back… After Marco Wilson sustained a season-ending injury against Kentucky, Dean moved into a prominent role and started 9 of the final 10 games… Tallied 26 tackles, 0.5 tackles-for-loss, 1 interception and 6 passes defensed…
As to he can't cover....
With just 9 starts, he still ranked 2nd on the team in pass breakups with 6… Notched his 1st-career interception @ FSU and returned it 44 yards… Totaled a season-high 4 tackles against Mich in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl... Named to the Coaches Freshman All-SEC Team… Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll… Member of a group that helped UF lead the nation in 4th quarter opponent passing efficiency (66.25) and rank 2nd nationally in 4th quarter opponent completion percentage (40.5).
I believe that Dan will have better candidates for CB and Star in 2020, but Dean could still make one-hell-of-ah Safety.

If we play teams that throw a lot and have 3 really good WR's, we will be in nickle a lot with three corners on the field. Dean would then be covering the 4th best WR or even the 5th. Hoping he can cover the opponent's 5th best WR. Probably not going to be an elite guy. If he is, well, then have to hope the DE's can get there before the QB gets to his 5th progression.
Soph slumps happen, otherwise there wouldn't be a term for it...
