Had an interesting day of messed up Covid stories today.
Story 1: Tragic. Co-worker's cousin's wife, 37 and a little plump but otherwise healthy, lost her battle last night. Not sure who got it first but one of the kids came down with a cold. Second kid did, they tested him and it was positive. Then dad got the sniffles and started to feel flu-like. A few days later mom got sick and went downhill fast. 3 days later she bounced back for about 4 days then started to feel bad again. Developed pneumonia at home, went to the hospital and was diagnosed as septic. Over two weeks she hung in there, but earlier this week they wanted to vent her and she refused. 4 days later gone.
Kids gave it to grandma and grandpa and both just got mildly ill (both in their late 80's). No one in this story was vaxxed.
Story 2: Weird. Exec at my company had Covid, recovered, and then got vaxxed. Strat meeting this week in tight quarters he started feeling tired and having chest pain. He's at home and doing awful - last I heard this am he may end up going to the hospital. He's mid 40's and in perfect health from just looking at him. Three others in that meeting are feeling bad as well. A handful of others are fine. All are vaxxed.
Story 3: Sad. Engineer in R&D has a son at home with some respiratory issues. We just realized at lunch that no one had seen his face in months. He wears a tight N95 everywhere he goes. We had lunch and he wouldn't take any drinks, and took his food to go. Great guy living an incredibly compromised life.
