Charlie Strong

Yes and no. Kids not good enough to play for UF have a chance o play for a very good coach at an instate school. If we can start to recruit the 4 and 5 stars successfully, we will always be first choice for recruits.

I like Charlie. I live in Austin too. I am curious though. Aren't all major D1 coaches in tough positions? They get paid a pile of money for now results. Strong was fired because he was terrible. UT beat a bad ND team to start the season and then laid multiple eggs the rest of the way. Blame your DC for the 3rd straight year and let him go only to be just as bad in taking over those responsibilities. Dude had 3 years and got worse. The players wanted him to be the coach next year but man did they have a funny way of showing it in the final 2 games against KU and TCU.

Charlie made a decision to gut the roster. Hes been young the last two years. Also dont think texas was the right cultural fit.

Not good for us. I could see him getting a top defensive recruit over us the next couple of years. He is probably gone after 2 years however if they have big success and they are stacked for the coming year.

I have heard "cultural fit" a couple of times now in regards to him and UT. What exactly does that mean in this case?

He's black and married to a white woman.

Part of the reason he couldn't win over the boosters I'm sure.

Or at least that's the silly argument that was floated around 3 years agi.

Ha. That's funny. I knew he was married but didn't know she was white. I had heard he liked the coeds. Not sure if that was a Louisville thing or a UT thing.

Nothing to do with wins and losses and is just an excuse for not turning things around. He will thrive probably at USF in that low key atmosphere like he did at Louisville.

That might be part of it. But most of it, according to a buddy that is a UT fan and booster, had to do with the relationship of Charlie to boosters. Or lack there-of. That is important in Texas, as booster relationships there go a long way to cultivating relationship with HS coaches. He was never able to do that either.

Strong didn't have the crazy good recruiting at Texas they had years ago but he had better recruiting than the rest of the Big 12 the past 2 years and better than everyone but SEC teams and Meyer those last 2 years. Herman will have some talent when he takes over.

I wish only the best for Charlie Strong. He did a lot of good at Florida, was great at Louisville and seems like a goody guy and a class act. Hope he has lots of success at USF, just not at the expense of us.

he will take away our 3 star system now, good thing we don't play them next year... we would lose 12-10

I think it was Charlie but I was in the parking lot at KFC when a dark handsome fellow caught me off guard and pinned me against my car. He pulled my yoga pants and g string down past my ankles and began to pound my keister with his black mamba. When he was done and I fell to the ground after my last orgasm he quietly whispered "Go Gators" into my ear.

He is pretty soft spoken. Did he buy you some chicken or were you past the point of hunger by then?

Strong to USF makes a lot more sense than Kiffin to FAU....WTF

So here's a question that could very likely come up in a year or so:

If Florida continues to struggle, forcing Mac out as HC, while Lane Kiffin makes an impact at FAU, would we be interested in hiring the brazen 43 year old, visor wearing offensive genius?

Or does his history at UT 10 years prior and his "Sabanite" days preclude him?

I would consider him if he did well at FAU. He was the first of the New Sabanites, running an explosive offense (2 of the best 3 ever at Bama) with a DT QB. I am anxious to see if he has learned anything, tons of opportunity before 40.

You MFer.

Did you just discuss the possibility of LANE KIFFIN being the HC of FLORIDA?

Hey, you know as well as I do that the idea will be thrown around if that scenario plays out.

It would be a decade after the UT gig...most people wouldn't remember or care.

Well, him taking the job at FAU is obviously only to serve the purpose of getting to a better job.

Why would Strong be our HCIW?

Strong is not going to remain at a GOF school as long as he is relatively successful. He was a very successful DC at UF where it seems many UF faithful would not mind seeing him back in the fold as HC if Mac does not work out over the next couple seasons.. If he keeps USF above 9 wins per year and wins the conference a couple times he could be the guy to replace Mac if/when he leaves, voluntarily or not.

Chiffon going to FAU for a couple years and doing well could also be a possibility in Gainesville. Granted, most would be willing to forgive and forget his brief tenure at Tennessee and success as Bama's OC versus UF in a couple conference title games.

Where are you getting that many UF fans want Strong as HC? That really is overblown.

kiffin could very possibly be our next coach

Very obvious that he is using FAU to get a better gig, and with our downward trend he will for sure be mentioned for us. Strong will as well based on his being in FL and already with ties here.

seeing as all of our coaches are from sabans most recent championships he would just round out the quartet, except i'd like him as our coach.
