Cajuns…

Ida looks like she is going to be a monster.

There is nobody who is more sensitive to these type of events than sadgator…

sadgator is sending all his positive vibes, prayers, and wishes to the bayou state and gulf coast….

I moved from NOLA two months ago but I've been checking in on people down there, most have evacuated but there's a few that will ride it out.

looks like she keeps sliding a bit East, so the city could take the brunt of it, and I have a feeling it's going to be a lot worse than Zeta was last year when I was there. Ida is picking up more steam.

Yeah, the angle that Ida is taking seems like the worst case scenario for bad storm surge. And it’s going to be close to a direct hit at near peak strength.

Supposedly, the levees are better now than they were under Katrina, but I wouldn’t want to be in NOLA right now. Good luck to anyone stuck there—it’s going to be a rough ride.

Crazy stuff but looks like New Orleans doesn't have a Katrina situation this time.

the levees held and, miraculously. The freaking S&WB pumps managed to operate correctly. Even with the power outage.

Last year when I was there for Zeta, pump 4 failed AND they had a pump that ran in reverse and was pumping water INTO Metairie for like 48 hours.

so this is shockingly good work for an agency that charged me $600 a month for water and wouldnt acknowledge my argument that "a single male in a 750 square foot apartment literally can not use 1000 gallons of water a day."

Back in the day you could drink 1000 gallons of beer a day. 😅

That’s funny. The only other people I know from NOLA have also complained about occasionally getting hit with astronomical water bills that make no sense.

But they have Poboys and cakes with little babies in them, so it’s all good.

My very first water bill was $2400.

to which they said "well we'll cut it in half, is that better?"
