Waiting for Jake Tapper to suggest we adopt their form of government.
Would you be this Dr. Johnny Bananas who is recommending herd immunity?Waiting for Jake Tapper to suggest we adopt their form of government.
I unblocked you because I thought this might be a fun discussion.Would you be this Dr. Johnny Bananas who is recommending herd immunity?
The White House has reportedly embraced a declaration by a group of scientists arguing for a “herd immunity” strategy to deal with America’s coronavirus pandemic—days after the validity of the declaration came under question due to a number of apparently fake names among its expert signatories, including “Dr. Johnny Bananas.” According to The New York Times, on a call convened Monday by the White House, two anonymous administration officials cited the petition, titled The Great Barrington Declaration, which argues that COVID-19 should be allowed to spread through the population. The declaration’s website claims the petition has been signed by more than 15,000 scientists, but, last week, Sky News found dozens of fake names on the list of medical signatories, including Dr. I.P. Freely, Dr. Person Fakename, and Dr. Johnny Bananas.
Why would you block me? Are you one of the echo chamber types? I’m actually quite fun to converse with. Ask Ghost.I am blocked you because I thought this might be a fun discussion. Depends on what you said.
So let me propose a question to you if you don’t mind, What is an accurate definition of herd immunity?
I blocked you because you were disrupting my enjoyment of the other side of the boardWhy would you block me? Are you one of the echo chamber types? I’m actually quite fun to converse with. Ask Ghost.
Im no expert, but I understand it takes something like 60 to 70% exposure to develop herd immunity. We are far from that.
I’m quite capable of having a reasonable discussion when the other side does the same. That’s few and far between on here but I’m always willing.I blocked you because you were disrupting my enjoyment of the other side of the boardAnd because I don’t like arguing with ideologues that don’t want to have a discussion or listen while making their points. Much the same reason why I blocked @GhostOfMatchesMalone ,but I will ask you again because you didn’t answer the question, what is the definition of heard immunity as you understand it? I will point out to you that we have already probably reached 50 to 60% exposure to this virus in this country if you include the millions of people that were exposed but either never caught it or never had symptoms or were never tested. A cold virus like this Leads to massive exposure.
No you didn’t answer the question. He stated a number you thought you heard about her immunity but I asked you what is the definition of hurting me today? Do you care to take a stab at the definition of heard immunity or not? Because it’s not what you think it is if you’re quoting the 50 to 70% number.I’m quite capable of having a reasonable discussion when the other side does the same. That’s few and far between on here but I’m always willing.
I think I did answer it. I said 60 to 70%. Im not sure where you are getting your 50 to 60% figure from, but obviously I meant contracted the virus, including the a symptomatic people. Maybe some people are naturally immune, I guess, but I haven’t seen that.
At least we agree that Ghost is a waste of breath, as do most on here. I actually remember you coming on here several years ago and having problems with the previous Ghost.

I guess I’ll be waiting forever for my answer? Is this your way of declining to answer? I thought we were going to have a good discussion about itNo you didn’t answer the question. Although to be fair I’m not sure anybody has the correct definition anymore because it’s been so misrepresented in the press
Much the same reason why I blocked @GhostOfMatchesMalone
Sounds identical to someone else we all know.Ghost is one of those unique narcissistic personality disorders that is so severely narcissistic that they cannot admit they’re wrong no matter How many times or how many people prove that they’re wrong. I often wondered if that was the same ghost because they certainly both seem to have that problem.

Another interesting characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder, they would be unlikely to ignore people because they like arguments. General I don’t enjoy arguing on here so I block peopleSounds identical to someone else we all know.

Not the same Ghost from what I understand. Wasn’t dodging. See above.I guess I’ll be waiting forever for my answer? Is this your way of declining to answer? I thought we were going to have a good discussion about it
As the expert in the matter I need to first understand your definition of her immunity for us to have a discussion and maybe I can teach you something just like I’m sure you can teach me a ton about accounting and taxes.
Closer to 20% and I believe the good Dr is using his phones speech to text feature ...hurting should be herd. What is hurting you today?
Like I said, I’m no expert but my understanding is that herd immunity is when there is such a prevalence of people that have contracted the virus and therefore immune from passing it on to others. I’ve heard the 60 to 70% figure.
Im not sure I’ve seen an official definition so feel free to fill me in.
Ah, my little puppet weighs in.not necessarily true but hey, we are all still waiting for that one time you’re correct
Well, I just found this.Closer to 20% and I believe the good Dr is using his phones speech to text feature ...hurting should be herd.
I posted an article a month or so ago that said closer to 20%. That would be 66M and we could be getting close because not everyone who has had it went and got tested. Most people havent been tested. We might not even need 20% because its the big cities that aer the hubs of transmission. Suburbs and rural area might benefit once large cities hit herd immunityWell, I just found this.

Letting COVID-19 spread to achieve herd immunity is "unethical," WHO chief says
"Herd immunity is achieved by protecting people from a virus, not by exposing them to it," said the head of the World Health Organization.www.cbsnews.com
According to Johns Hopkins University, 70% to 90% of Americans would need to have coronavirus antibodies for herd immunity to be achieved. But the nation is nowhere near that level yet, even though more than 8 million people have tested positive and 214,000 have died since the pandemic began.
And this.

It is bad science to say covid-19 infections will create herd immunity
The Great Barrington Declaration says we should open up society to the coronavirus, but its assumption that herd immunity will result from letting most people get covid-19 is unscientific and irresponsible, says Graham Lawtonwww.newscientist.com
So I guess it’s just a matter of opinion. I’m not sure what your source was but Johns Hopkins is pretty credible.I posted an article a month or so ago that said closer to 20%. That would be 66M and we could be getting close because not everyone who has had it went and got tested. Most people havent been tested. Well I did read an article I guess if I remember by MIT that said anywhere from 10-80% LOL in other words meaningless. Three things. I tend to be an optimist and the cruise ships topped out at 20% . Pretty much after 100% exposure. Lastly there are people with natural immunity from previous infections by similar viruses and then those with genetic immunity. So I guess it’s just a matter of opinion.
Another interesting characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder, they would be unlikely to ignore people because they like arguments. General I don’t enjoy arguing on here so I block people

No, was not referring to you. Sorry.Naturally assuming you’re talking about me but I know I’m wrong at times and I frequently admit it. Therefore, in keeping with narcissistic personality disorder, that would not make me one. But everybody has traits of personality disorders in their personality and I certainly have traits of narcissism if that makes you feel better![]()
