http://sports.yahoo.com/news/georgias-mcgarity-plans-extension-richt-004540141--ncaaf.html

He is has the 3rd or 4th highest win percentage of any active coach today. So I'd say an extension is deserved, especially since he is not even in the top 5 highest paid coaches in the SEC.

Just curious, when was the last time Georgia won a NC? How about the SEC? I really don't know.

When I saw the thread title I assumed it was reference to Driskel's release to seek a transfer.

Richt is a good coach...hell if we had him over the last few years we would had been better off...I know a few years ago that they had a really bad season but that's been about it. I know that SCjr isn't UGA but Spurrier hasn't done much more imo. I mean Richt has won the SEC a couple of times and they have had several really good teams.

This is great news. Richt doesn't win anything. He does just good enough to keep his job.

My sales manager said to me the other day when talking about hiring new sales staff - "I don't need more of you top sales people, I can use a few that do the minimum and nothing more" So it's good to have a mix of coaches that over achieve, and others like Richt that do the minimum and nothing more.

Richt has us in competition for the SEC Championship almost every year. If that's the minimum, fine.

We've just had some bad luck lately, with the clock running out in the 2012 SECCG, Auburn's fluke pass last year, and Tech this year.

Richt has you right where the rest of us want you. As Paco stated already, he wins just enough to keep his job and guarantees that he will NOT win a national championship and will get VERY lucky to see a single SEC championship once a decade.

If you enjoy going with 9 or 10 wins every year but being guaranteed to not be any sort of competitive threat to the SEC championship, then Richt is definitely your guy. Gator fans hope he stays at UGLy for another 100 years.

Guess the mutts are happy just to be in contention and to never actually win much meaningful.

Even better news: Dooley tweeted yesterday that Roper is in the mix for OC at UGa.

Richt has won 2 SEC titles in 13 years at UGA. IMO that isn't getting it done but maybe UGA has lower expectations. His last SEC title was in 2005. Almost a decade ago. UGA recruits as good as anybody in the SEC on top of that. He's a good coach, but not a championship caliber coach.

He has won the east five times. He has a 2-3 record in SECCGs. He has been the UGA coach for what, 14 years? If he coaches another 14 years, I am OK if he doubles those numbers.

Why would that be bad? You really think Roper needs the finger pointed at him due to the offense in his one year? It was no worse(actually statically better ) than Weiss and Pease. The finger should be pointed at who was the head man in charge. If Roper is judged on one year under mediocre leadership then we are doomed with Nuss and his one year at Michigan under mediocre leadership.

Report: Georgia interested in offensive coordinator Kurt Roper

Like UF has won something in the past few years...Richt is a good Coach IMO. He produces a lot of NFL talent.

Hmmm since Richt won a SEC championship in 2005 UF has won 2 national titles and a few SEC titles, so UF has won plenty since Richt last won something. Again Richt does just good enough to keep his job. Is he a good coach? Yes if your ok with not ever winning any championships. He's also had by far the most talented team the last 2 years in the East and UF and UT were down and he still couldn't win the SEC East. Look how well UGA recruits? It doesn't translate onto the field. Good/solid teams, but no championship caliber teams.
