Looking at the Gator schedule, quite frankly I would be shocked if they lost 10 games, in large part because the SEC is going to be good this season. Ole Miss was incredibly lucky to beat us last year, but they lost their best scorer whereas Florida is going to be so much stronger overall. Miss State, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tenn are all average at best, and I am not sure Vandy will be significantly better. Only UK and Texas A&M are good teams, but even UK is a lot weaker and we almost beat them at home when they were loaded. Outside of conference the only ones who should contest are Purdue (although not a top 25 team), at Miami (who we were beating by 15 with only a few minutes to go), at Mich St. at East Lansing (who are always weaker at the beginning of the season and not expected to be top 10 this season), Ok. State (who like Purdue is not top 25), FSU (who we should beat at home) and West Virginia (who we play at home). On the road at Mich St, at UK, at Texas A&M and at Vandy are the games they could lose, with a possibility of LSU on the road. Simmons is a great player and they have a decent guard coming in, but they also lost by far their two best players. If they stay healthy, UF is pretty quickly going to move into the top 20 after the first 9 or 10 games.
On the subject, I do not understand the writer for Gatorzone stating that Chiozza is the best passer. Please, look at the assists of Hill. And quite frankly, if players did not drop his passes or just blew open layups under the basket consistently after great passes by Hill, he would have had 2 or 3 more assists per game. Chiozza is not bad, but he does not compare to Hill. Nor is he has fast or quick as Hill, albeit he is incredibly fast and quick himself. If Hill improves his shooting, he will be a top PG in the SEC. Let us not forget that Hill was a top 10 recruit coming out of HS, whereas Chiozza was in the 40's. People are particularly not giving enough appreciation to Finney-Smith, who should be 1st team All-SEC, and Robinson, who should really emerge this season to be on the 1st three teams, nor do people appreciate how much stronger they will be at center on the boards and blocking shots. Even last year if they had stayed healthy or not had suspensions, they would have won 5 or 6 more games at a minimum. The whole season was simply a bad luck season. They are much, much better than most think. 26-5 and they are a top 10 team.
