I wouldn’t be too eager for a constitutional convention if I were you. If one happens anytime soon, reforming the electoral college to prevent more minority rule presidents is likely to be the topic.

You mean you want to get rid of the EC and use Popular Vote to elect the president.

That's the definition of minority rule. Dems will just create the votes till they have enough. States of CA and NY will submit counts last, and submit just enough to win for the dems.

Maybe we need to meet on how to stop dems from rigging elections, not on how to make it easier for them LOL

There's no hope for states like CA and NY, but purple states need to lock down voter fraud and install voter ID. Until that happens, elections are just a moot point. Democrats invented voter fraud and openly embrace it. Banana Republic rules.

That's why CA has been letting illegals in for years and letting them vote. They are preparing for the day when they get rid of the EC. That's been a dem wet dream for decades.

Actually you kinda did. You said reforming the EC would prevent minority rule. It would FACILITATE minority rule. That's the whole point of abolishing the EC for the left.

They want 2-3 blue states to decide who the president is for the entire country.

The Founding Fathers knew that a day would come when corrupt politicians would try to take the power from the people. You're on the wrong side of history on yet another issue.

I don’t support getting rid of the EC, but I think they should amend it to add an absolute majority rule—meaning if a candidate wins over 50% of the popular vote, they win automatically. If no one gets over 50%, then the EC decides.

That's useless AF. All it takes is some 3rd party candidate to upset the applecart, whether it's a commie or someone like a Perot. The EC was put in place for a reason. Do you not know anything about mob rule? We are not Greece (thank God). No way in hell New York, San Francisco, LA, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago should decide what kind of steaming turd will lead this country. Shame on you.

A Perot-like 3rd party candidate would make it almost impossible anyone to win a majority of the popular vote.

Yes. Same would happen in today's climate with a commie Sanders or AOC type running 3rd party. Our system doesn't work unless each party defines who they really are. Both parties are splintered. From my point of view, we're going to primary all of the RINOs where possible and take back our Constitution. There's no way to win going 3rd party. The GOP has a bunch of self serving asshole politicians who will say and do anything to stay in power. Now the Dims..........WTF? They've become something just a little right of Cuba and Venezuela.

I’m still not understanding how a popular third party would be a problem. If a third party prevented any candidate from exceeding 50% of the popular vote, the election would be decided by the EC, which is the same as today.
 
I understand the reasons for not going to a pure popular vote election. But it also doesn’t seem very democratic to have a candidate win an absolute majority of the popular vote and still lose. Having an absolute majority rule would keep the EC as it is as long as no one breaks 50%.

Voters in NYC, Chicago, LA decide who the President is for the remaining 99.99999% of the country in your system.

Thankfully, the 20-something Founding Fathers were a lot smarter than that.

Again, if popular vote decided who the President was, all campaigning would be done in the states of NY. CA and IL. The remaining 47 states get no say in who the President is.

Talk about disenfranchisement. And everyone knows if those 3 cities were heavily republican, no dem alive would support going to popular vote.

Why can the dems never be honest about who they are and what they want?
