Former UF tailback Adarius Lemons, who quit the team following the Sept. 8 loss to Kentucky, is in Alachua County Jail following his arrest Wednesday.
Lemons is facing charges of battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony, battery and criminal mischief, each a first-degree misdemeanor.
The 21-year-old from Clearwater is being held on a bond of $65,000, according to records.
Lemons allegedly struck and strangled his longtime girlfriend during an argument last Friday, leaving her bleeding from her lip and with various scrapes, Alachua County Court records show.
During the initial struggle, records show, the victim’s left big toe nail was torn off when it hit a railing. Lemons also slammed her iPhone onto the ground, breaking it into three pieces.
