A Pain in the But-Ler...

White isn’t any good but oh well. Not sure how much more this needs to be said or how many more years we need to wait. This is year 5 now.

We won’t ever take a step in the right direction until we get a new head coach. Simple as that

Year 5 and we he's brought in solid talent. Make a deep run this year or hit the road...5 years is enough sample size. Lots of hoops left to play but thus far at 6-3 we've been slightly disappointing. But we will see.

Waiting for the obligatory Mike White defenders to show up and ridicule.

Don't you mean Mike White defender as in ONE particular poster? The same poster who defended McElwain until he couldn't any more and is now doing the same with Grantham. Always the last one to see the obvious.

But he was spot on about Kyle Trask.

Remember all of that Jake Allen hype? :D

Like always, we’re a fringe tournament team. We’ll be fighting to stay a game or two over .500 in conference. If we get in, we compete and have good athletes, so we could win a game or three. That’s Mike White basketball. It is what it is.

It’s not the worst thing to have s guy who can recruit, who gets his team to play hard and defend, who gets in the tourney more often than not and has a chance to win games when he gets there.

I just don’t get why he chooses to limit possessions so much by running the shot clock when he has better athletes than most of the teams he plays. You play low scoring games like that and you get beat by a few shots falling.

Haven't watched too much this season - are any of the big time recruit freshman playing much or is White sticking with the veterans mostly?

Young guys are playing but not doing much offensively. Lewis at least impacts games on defense and in transition (when we get out). Mann was supposed to be a big time shooter and scorer but haven’t seen it yet. Payne not getting a lot of run.

The Circle of Jerks never let's the facts get in the way of their idiot rants.

First off, Butler is a very good team, they were in the Dance last year.
2nd, they have a well deserved and nation leading 56 game home win streak.
3rd, those game officials were the best I've seen so far this season, no complaints.
4th, this very young team still has some growing to do before March....

Game Commentators, about UF's start, in the pre-game lead up to the Butler game:
"Making baskets can fix a lot of problems with an offense." -- Well Duh...

iG -- The coaches can coach defense and they can run an offense that gets players open shots. After that, it's up to the players to put the ball in the freakin' basket. o_O

UF vs Butler.

FG - 43.8%
(while missing bunnies under the basket and driving lay-up) 21/48

3's - 23.1% (most were wide open shots) -- 6/26
It's up to the coaches to put then in positions to shoot, it's then up to the players to make baskets.
Blackshear 1/6 - Mann 1/5 - Nembhard 1/4 - Keytae 0/2, Locke 3/9
Locke's 3 were equal to the combined efforts of the other 4 that shot 3's. - :(

FT - 66.7% - 14/21 -- Lewis 1/4 - Bassett 0/2

TEAM -- 12 Asts to 10 TO's, and only 5 Stls, 4 Off-Rbs with 1 Blk....

Coaches Need --- Either a Sports Psychologist, or a 10 foot bullwhip..... (maybe both)

Yep I thought Mann would be able to have a big impact right away even more than any other freshman.

And a never ending list for going on 55 years now....
Moral Stephens
Kyle Trask
Lamical Perine
Dan Mullen
Perfect? Nope, and don't want to be either,,,, as they nailed the last perfect guy to a cross...

I would expect nothing good about me coming from the circle of jerks, and so I'm never disappointed by their clueless heckling... :p

Mike White:
CoY Winner in 3 different conferences - MWC - AAC - SEC
NIT Quarter-Finals in 1st year, with no home games due to O-Dome renovations.
20+ wins in every year in his 1st 4 years at UF, after taking over a loser 16-17 team.
Elight-8 in his 2nd year.at UF
In years 3 & 4, 20+ wins and Rnd of 32 with his Bigs injured out.

5th year rebuilding his team with 9 new players
That's 1 Grad-xfer Sr
That's 2 Sit-Out xfers
Along with 5 Fr recruits.
Anyone not expecting growing pains is even dumber than is usually seen here.

When the shooters finally begin to knock down their shots, and the 9 new guys gel with the 3 that remained, then the nay-Sayers will all suffer a memory wipe like the UGly buttsniffer do after they win another NC....

Shooting - UF 44% -- BU 52%
UF 12 Ast - 10 TO's
BU 19 Ast - 10 TO's

We just didn’t convert very well from the three point line or the foul line. We moved it, executed better, did some better things. Lack of discipline and connectivity at times really showed up defensively in big possessions for them. Also, they just had some guys make some plays… they’re a really good team.

UF 62 - 76 BU

It wasn’t one of the best defensive performances of the season for Florida, although White gave Butler credit for that. There were a lot of layups that usually a tough, hard-nosed defense shuts down.

“We call them burns, those base line cuts,” he said. “We (coaches) knew burns were coming and we prepared the players for them for 3 days and it didn’t carry over in what we wanted to do.”

There is the difference between coaching, and player game plan execution... iG o_O

It’s not that we lost to Butler. They are a good team. It is how we lost to Butler. We weren’t even competitive and it’s the same problems game after game after game. Ineffective and inefficiency on offense

The offense has exactly 1 problem and it's not coaching, it's shooting % by players.

You're as FoS as always, as always, as always... o_O
.
2019 6-3 and an early season Tourney Champ already.
First 4 years, 20+ wins plus NIT Quarter Final and then 3 trips to the Dance.

Your baseless rant has become boring to the point of,,,, ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

Moral Stephens?

Badly under used by McLame and his OC's.
Dan said that he wished he'd had him for more than just his under-developed rsSr season.
Go look at his numbers, as little and the twits played him...

And even so....

The Denver Broncos have signed tight end Moral Stephens, the team announced Saturday. To make room for Stephens on the 90-man offseason roster, the Broncos waived punter Justin Vogel.

Butler was picked to finish 8th in their conference and we beat them badly in Gainesville last year. They are off to a great start this year and their home non-conference record is amazing. They played extremely well, but we played pretty bad (again). Blackshear settles for 3's way too often, the rotation of players is inconsistent and sometimes to me doesn't make sense. The free throw shooting was horrendous and there were too many times we just lost guys on defense and gave up easy baskets. Still taking and bricking too many bad shots. Hugely disappointing start to the season as far as I'm concerned. I don't give a rat's ass about youth - there's just too much talent and depth on this team to be playing as poorly as they are.

FT's -- 14 of 21, .66.7% :(

FG's -- 21 of 48, 43.8% :(

3's -- 6 of 26, 23% - the vast majority on wide open shots

It's the PLAYERS SHOOTING % STUPID....

Change that, and all of the miss-perceived coaching problems disappear instantly. o_O

Question:
When players make contested shot after shot in practice, but then chunk up wide open duds in a game, what's the coaching cure for that problem?

Exactly - same mess its been for years - crappy ball movement and shot selection on offense and that falls on the coach.

Getting good shots and making them is the fundamental point of basketball. It baffles me that you disassociate coaching from the team’s poor shooting.

One simple suggestion, if the team can’t make shots in the half court, is to use your athleticism to beat the defense down the floor and shoot before they set up. Mike White is on the record as saying he prefers exactly the opposite. I don’t think White is terrible, but he owns the way this team plays offense.

Bingo. If you can’t shoot and you know your team can’t shoot how about trying to get some higher percentage shots. One way to do that is speed up your tempo and try to get some baskets in transition. The offense hasn’t been terrible under White. The only time it was good is when he had Chiozza to bail them out. Even with Chiozza we would go long stretches of no offensive production.

Scoring under White in his 2nd year:

The difference of then and now?
FT - 72.9
FG - 45%
3's - 35.8
Plus not having 9 new players with 5 Fr.

Note - Chiozza had 0 starts, Hill was running the offense.
Hill - 28.6 Min/Gm Ave
Cheeze - 22.2 Min/Gm Ave, a lot in short relief and/or mop-up.

1 Loser team to NIT Quarter Finals with no home games.
2. Elite-8 & SEC CoY
3. Rnd of 32 with 6-11 C Egbunu out.
4. Rnd of 32 with 6-11 C Gak out.

The best 1st 4 years for a new Gator B-Ball coach and you snivel and whine...

Mike Whites next / 2020 incoming recruiting class: - 3 Signed LOI's.

#20 SF Samson Ruzhentsev 6-7 210 **** - Chattanooga, Tn

#27 SG Niels Lane 6-5 195 **** - Roselle, N.J.

#1 JuCo PF Osayi Osifo 6-8 210 *** - Cocoa, FL - E.FLSt College,

Can any of them shoot?

As always, that remains to be seen, but slumps and hot streaks exist for all, even one's as good as 5 stars like SG KeVaughn Allen...
  • He finished his career as Florida’s No. 6 all-time leading scorer with 1,723 points, but he had a very up and down inconsistent Sr season.
