A lot of people lately seem to think we are going to be the yearly team that

pulls the most big recruits on the day of Signing day, been a lot of articles hinting at this and tweets the last few days...

Words from UF QB commit Jake Allen.

“I think signing day could be huge,” he said on how he expects Florida to finish. “We got some silents. Most of the uncommitted guys right now are waiting until Feb. 1. Those guys that visited with me, I think we can get all of them. So signing day is going to surprise some Gator fans.”

@onlygators: Florida will not be one of the 16 schools ESPN has a reporter at on NSD. Kentucky and 7 other SEC schools will have one on site.

I wonder if this was us not wanting them there? A bad sign or nothing in reality?

As far as the last 2 classes Mac picked up every blue chipper in 2015 literally on signing day or just a day or two out. Last class Mac didn't pick up any blue chippers the last few days I think.

Edit: Mac got Cleveland right at the end last class.

Does anyone know who visited with him?

Slaton, Conliffe, Nick SMith and Christopher HEnderson.

Slaton and Smith seem like good bets to end up at UF. Henderson is trending UM and Conliffe is trending UT, however Mac still has a chance. The rest of the visitors that week are already UF commits. Just need to hang on to them.

I remember when Brady Quinn was trying to get drafted, the TV coverage was brutal.

.

I can't imagine that would matter to most posting here, as they all use rivals or
247.

I'm one of the few that mostly uses ESPN, but I couldn't care any less if none of them (ESPN, rivals, scout, 247) are at UF on NSD. The net will be lit-up with the LOI reports, so what good is it, one way or the other?

It could be a bad look going forward seeing the coaches trying to sugarcoat a signing day that didn't bring in multiple top recruits considering our standing going in. I think its a smart move not having them live there. 2015 was perfect to have them there since Mac knew he was bringing in a bunch of blue chippers late on signing day itself.

It gives u good exposure. Next years kids see it and gets them excited. Momemtum is huge in recruiting. Is it the ultimate decision? Absolutely not but it can get ur foot in the door with future recruits.

Things seem to be shifting some from the years where NSD had gobs of major recruits finally committing...

In those days, Bowden won mentions for closing well. Big drama on NSD.

Now, many top level teams fill their recruiting class fairly early and are down to just a handful of slots left on the roster by the last week before NSD. They pretty well know who is coming and may have had to back up on taking someone they had some interest in because of paucity of slots.

There will still be some drama and flips on NSD...some highly ranked recruits crave the pub, the hats on the table drama...but it ain't like it used to be.

I think Mac may finally be developing relationships with high school coaches. I've heard from a father of a D-1 Florida recruit this year that state coaches are really starting to warm up to Mac.

Don't know if it's true or not.

Yeah, I can see how bad it hurt UF on NSD to not have all those media-morons cluttering up the place with their usual BS...
