One should probably use it as ONE piece of the puzzle.
One can logically look for other indicators as to poll accuracy.
1. Funding
2. Campaign changes to staff
3. Poll aggregators
4. Changing messages
5. Events and enthusiasm
None of it is full proof, but usually gives indicators as to how things are going.
