Interesting thread on Ukraine and Russian drone warfare.
As far as the Carrier Group, I read it was 950 miles away from Yemen, which gives it 4 hours heads up on drone attacks and about 1 hour for a missile.
my experience with the Navy is entirely aboard assault carriers. They practice but the real thing is at a much faster tempo and some of these squadrons are reservists. What is more likely on this arrestment failure? Mechanical probably but could be crew screw up? A thing like that there should be little excuse for a crew screwup I would think. I don't give the Navy any benefit of the doubt when we have all these crazy screwups the past few years. It's embarrassing many of the ones where they ran into other ships etc. Incompetence basically which usually means it came from the top down and no telling the changes under Biden.
I mean we have pilots now that think they can just ignore controllers and the other pilot in the chopper when they tell them to turn. That screams a top down military problem.
Yep. To some it’s hard to understand how easy screwups occur when you double the temp from which you train…. And then add a fear factor. It takes time to flawlessly up-tempo, and time to burn off the fear factor to only have job focus…… and shite still happens regardlessmy experience with the Navy is entirely aboard assault carriers.
