I can't believe LSU was willing to pay that insane money for a really good but not great/elite coach.

FSU
2010 9-4
2011 9-4
2012 12-2
2013 14-0 (Winston BCS Title)
2014 13-1 (Winston CFP Berth)
2015 10-3
2016 10-3
2017* 3-6 (bolted after Clemson)

TAM
2018 9-4
2019 8-5 (lost to every ranked team they played)
2020* 9-1 (COVID not a full season)
2021 8-4 (so far)

Big bowl of meh

In the same division with Bama but supposedly they have set up some NIL pipeline there that will help them recruit right there with Bama and Georgia now. That is what some are claiming. Putting them on a lot of local radio ads but it being financed by people other than the companies they are promoting or something similar.

I’m very satisfied that Jimbo is at A&M and Kelly at LSU. I believe we made a great hire. It’s going to take a couple of years but we will be glad about it down the line. He warned us of growing pains.

He has the #3 class currently w/ 4 5 star recruits.

Elite recruiter, out thinks himself on GameDay. I listened to him talk about a play one time, it was at a coaches convention and my company was there and I got into the presentation from a friend who was in there. He talked about 1 play for over an hour and broke down how everything works with every coverage with every style of QB and how the play changes based on your team's. He's a football x's and o's genius (which is why when he had Jameis we set offensive records nationally) but I think he struggles to simplify it for other Quarterbacks. I think he's average on GameDay because of that but he always has the athletes. I would take Jimbo back in a heartbeat just for his recruiting.

This is gonna leave a mark. They probably should have hired Alford rather than hounding Tyra from Louisville.

I do believe this guy went to UF as an undergrad.

We did hire Alford, said no to Tyra and this guy lost in the vote. He tried hard, wasn't enough (similar to our football team)

That’s just too sad 😉
UL has been a train wreck for over a decade. It started with a drunken Pitino having sex with a woman in an Italian restaurant. She got pregnant and Pitino "a good Catholic boy" paid to have an abortion for her in Ohio. One of his buddies agreed to drive her to the abortion clinic, they fell in love somewhere along the line, got married and she attempted to extort money from Pitino. He went to the FBI and she ended up charged with a felony and found guilty in court.

Things snowballed from there and as the years went by that turned out to be one of the milder happenings in scandal after scandal. What a bunch of losers. Any university program that hires anyone associated with UL is treading on quicksand. Nothing good will happen and a lot of bad things will.

Seriously they need to shut down both the basketball and football program and think things over. If Hollywood made a movie of the Louisville athletic department based on truth and facts the public would say, no way this is pure fiction.

So you’re not a fan?

I doubt anyone outside the City of Louisville is a fan. I live 850 miles from Kentucky and I have not met one anywhere near me.

I could take the rest of the day to list their scandals but it would be a waste of everyone's time. Especially on a very fine Gator board with posters who are above average intelligence.

Just like Clemson, Louisville football matters one week a year. If they don’t beat f$u then they are utterly worthless.

I will say that I grew up in Indiana, and there are Louisville fans there just because we hate Kentucky so much. And that 83 final four game against Houston was amazing.

After Saban, Jimbo is probable the smartest guy coaching. He understands and follows Saban’s process, and he talks a good game, which impresses ADs.

When he’s in a good mood, he is a great coach. If he can get past the personality flaws he exhibited at FSU, like screaming and degrading low level staffers, alienating boosters, the media, and top coordinators, he could be GOAT tier.

Bowden recognized his potential, but I think he was predicting that Jimbo would mature faster than he did. He is smart enough to learn from his mistakes and still young enough to make it happen.

That was true for Clemson a decade ago. Two national championships later, they are a national powerhouse in their own right.
