mediocre Mike inherited a championship quality group while Ricky inherited only 2 recruits with P-5 offers.


I opined as what would occur if Barnes started landing the kind of talent he deserved to get.

Well, in 2019, he got a 5* 6'6" PG along with a 4* P/G transfer from Oregon and a 4* 7''1" Center from Arizona State.

this year, if you care to look at the Rival's top 53, you will notice a ver odd University logo and color just under Duke and about Ky.. Ain't been there since the early 1970's with King, Jackson, Grunfeld, Darden, Johnson.

Got two 5 star commits with Rivals claiming another 5* S/G to join them very soon.


Now, If you can tear yourself away from your mythical 12th planets, dark side of the moon lock and rides, you need to get started with all the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th round dance chokes.

Could still happen., But the lack of talent and depth. won't be the reason any more. Not after next season.

Still lousy.

Not as bad as last year, but still a bucket of suckage. 6-6 lMHO. 8-4 according to some of the predicting goobs.

When you are starting true Freshmen at both OT's, things can't be rosy.

But they are both 5* and eventually, when they get some experience and join that other 5* already on the OT, things will begin a turn for the better.

We just started getting top 4/5 star recruits last year. This year's incoming class is even better. We will have the depth, variety, speed, and lack of injuries all come together in a nice season coming up. Whether we beat UT or not really doesn't amount to much does it?......since we'll be dancing in March longer than y'all anyway. I mean while you're talking about UT, Andy Katz is talking about UF in the Final Four.

Where are the recruits/ Can't find them. Rivals list goes to # 63. Can't find Ole Mike listed.

I am teasing Instadoofus as he claimed Barnes was all washed up as he recruited nothing but 2* and 3* recruits over his 1st 4 seasons at UT.

Now I will be the 1st to admit that having the #2 recruiting class in the nation is ratified air for UT. That has not happened since the mid 1970's. If UT lands Jaden Springer 5* S/G from Fla. IMG like Rivals believes and the 4* Russian S/F from Chattanooga, , the placement isn't likely to fall far and we will get to see what Barnes can do with the Top Recruits. We saw the last 2 years what he managed to do with 2* & 3* nobodies. Plus, he gets to add a 4* PG from Oregon who will be eligible next season and a 4* 7'1" Center from Arizona State ( unless he he granted immediate waiver)

That's for 2020. I don't believe we have any commits for next year yet. We are focused on the two 5 stars that will be suiting up this season along with our VaTech transfer. Will make for a nice addition to our returning guys.

Grant was a 4 star, the others were all 3 stars. But what does that have to do with rick? You think he had scrubs over there at Texas??

Which by the way, you just proved our point. Barnes was loaded with Nba talent last season and couldn't get it done. Mike White had 0 nba talent and did just about as well. Thanks for making the case with regular season rick

Conrary to popular belief, he did make it to the final 4 in 2003, the "Elite 8 in 2006 and 2008".

He has had NO top talent at UT after taking over a total garbage dumpster wreck.

Meanwhile, I am just enjoying the ride. He did pick up a 6/6" 5* P/G for the 2019 season. Would have liked to have had him move down a year as this will be a total rebuild after losing 4 starters the NBA


Picked to finish about 6th, but 2 years vago, the Lizzerds were predicted to win the SEC and go to the Final 4 while UT was picked to finish 13th in the SEC. Ole Instant had a large Guffaw over that.

But strange forces went to work and UT won the SEC. Instant blamed all the Florida Fat Boyz for too many injuries.

Got to build a bench. He was able to build a starting line up after 3 seasons, but one needs bench players to come in and spell the starters. That was the major thing lacking these last two seasons. So many transferred after Martin quit and Tinsdale was fired for cause.

Not going to be much better this year as last year's bench will have to take over starting rolls. So 2020 is likely when we see that Orange T listed in the winner's column as often as the last 2 seasons.

It gets worse by the day. Now we have fans bragging about basketball recruits in August. Why all these superior programs keep looking for validation from UF fans on a message board I’ll never understand.

Barnes never had a problem wracking up wins in the regular season. He can't get it done when it counts....this past season was there for the taking. Vols had the best starting 5 as evidenced by the kids that are now in the nba. Last season was his best shot. Virginia was a flawed team with very little bench.

A little off topic but I had the privilege of setting foot on the Nimitz as a kid when my dad was stationed in Norfolk. A friend of mine and his dad invited me on the Eisenhower as they were both ported on pier 12. I believe they were the world's largest aircraft carriers at the time.
