I realize it is only 2 games, but we beat 2 talented, ranked teams with a gimpy 19 year-old QB and a boatload of players out with injuries. I think my buddy @BBlake told me that Dijon Johnson played all 93 defensive play vs. LSU. That is crazy.
LSU had a 42 minute to 18 minute advantage in time of possession and we still beat them by 2 scores.
Ole Miss put up more yards (465 to 345yds) but we still won by a touchdown - even after Ole Miss had a bye week and viewed this as the most important game of their year.
Yes, the defense has played lights out, but give credit to the entire coaching staff. We have been outmanned, out-gained, out-possessioned but not outcoached. That says a lot about the future of this team.
Has anyone come so close to being let go only to rally and show true, measurable improvement so quickly? I posted at the beginning of the season before we played a single down that Billy's future would depend less on the record of wins and losses this year, but more on whether or not Gator Nation felt like this team was better and on the upswing. I think we are. In my opinion, SS made the announcement before the pendulum truly was on its upward trajectory. He looks smart for doing it when he did.
Big kudos to this team and coaching staff. No one in that locker room quit. Gator Nation didn't quit either - sellouts all year. Incredible. It's great to be a Florida Gator!
