UF @ Mizzou

The QB has zero reason to stick the ball out. A hand fake works. A linebacker through all of that mess can’t see perfectly what the fake is.
You missed the point entirely it seems to me.
The problem is that the QB and the RB have had close to zero playing time together.
All season I've begged for Max to get a series here and there in a game, as a backup should.
Just another CBN failure to develop players imo.

Also, the RB's elbow knocked the ball out of the QB's hand, and we don't even know if it was supposed to be a true hand-off or a fake. One of the hand-offs to ET was almost a miss too....

Max is a gamer. Not sure how good a passer he is, too soon to know. With his leg threat it's going to open up things a lot for the rest of the running game. His ability to run read/option was faking their safeties out of their shoes when they cheated up and handed it off instead. It is a shame that a handful of players are causing the ones playing their guts out heartache instead.
QB-dt Max Brown 6-2 220 rsFr

HS Sr Season:
14 Gms - 13-1, 6-0 Conf. - Awarded the Okla 3A MVP
P - 167 of 235, 71.1% for 2,750 yds, 16.5 yd/comp, 41 TD's, 4 Ints, QBR 142.6
R - 173 for 1,343 yds, 7.8 ypc, 20 TD's, ZERO fumbles.
Total Offense - 4,093 Yds, 61 TD's, 4 Turnovers!

Critics and Haters Say:
That's just HS. There's no way that he could do that at the College level in the SEC.

UF Career Stats: (even wid-CBN lack of development and play calling)
Passing - 10 of 12, 83% for 106 Yds, 10.6 Yd/Comp, QBR 157.78
Rushing - 8 for 42 Yds, 5.3 YPC
ZERO TURNOVERS

With very little playing time or coaching development,,,,,
Max and his results looks pretty close to EXACTLY the same to me.

Fumble was Browns fault and the sack was not. Brown playing or not playing has zero to do with the fact our defense can't stop anyone. Mertz has been our MVP and only saving grace thus far. I hope Brown plays lights out against the Noles...Mertz's run was legendary but unfortunately cost him the season. But yes, scared money don't make money got all scared on that final series of plays. Get the damn first down and then kick the game winner with no time left on the clock.
Out coached

McLame's biggest failure was in leaving Trask (that signed with UF) rotting on the bench, and instead bringing in 3 xfer QB's instead (Del Rio, Appleby, & Zaire).

Napier's biggest failure is in leaving Brown (that signed with UF) rotting on the bench and instead bringing in 2 xfer QB's (Miller & Mertz) instead of developing and playing Brown.

JMOHO's, so others that disagree with that opinion are free to state their own opinions and speculations,,,, keeping in mind that we are sitting at 5-6 with likely another losing season...

PS -- And now Billy needs to get QB-dt Leise ready to go this week as the backup for FSU, just in case Brown goes down injured.....

QB-dt Brown 6-2 220
QB-dt Leise 6-2 215
-------
QB-dt Lagway 6-2 225 coming down the pike, IF he doesn't flip, (iG crosses his fingers).

Mertz will be our starting QB next season. He has played tremendously this year and is the leader of the team. We need to not lose anyone else from the recruiting class, then go out and find some trench men on both sides of the ball in the portal.
This is spot on.

And so this QB-pp with an under-performing OL disaster continues on indefinitely.... 🙄

Mertz Passing = 73% - dink and dunk junk
Brown Passing = 83% - with a cannon arm if Billy knew how to call plays to use it

Mertz playing in his 5th year - Yds/Comp 2,903/261 for 11.1 at 72.9%-- QBR 157.78
Brown barely having seen the field - Yds/Comp 106/10 for 10.6, at 83.3% -- QBR 157.53

And you don't really want to even consider the difference in the running abilities or the sacks and fumbles....

JMOHO, but Wuerffel and Tebow would have both sucked in this excuse for an offense....
Plus Billy's 2 DC's results vs 3rd and Grantham...... 😛

Why is someone here crying about Mertz while the offense is averaging over 30 ppg despite the poor performance of the OL?
With that said, Napier and staff should seriously evaluate the portal for OL and DL.

As @TEBOW TIME has stated, imagine what damage Mertz will cause for the opposition with a decent to great OL.
