The Florida Gators return to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium after their huge season-opening win against the Utah Utes. This Saturday, the Florida Gators will host the Kentucky Wildcats in a Top 25 matchup.

The Kentucky Wildcats come into Gainesville with a 1-0 record after defeating Miami (OH) last weekend 37-13. The Wildcats Here are three Kentucky Wildcats to watch against the Florida Gators this weekend.

QB Will Levis

Senior quarterback Will Levis comes into the Swamp with a ton of hype surrounding him. The former Penn State transfer is coming off a strong 2021 season and is getting some buzz about being a potential first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Levis started all thirteen games last season for the Wildcats. He completed 66% of his passes for 2,827 yards with 24 touchdowns and thirteen interceptions. Levis ran for 376 yards and nine touchdowns.

Levis played well in the season opener versus Miami (OH) but he’ll need to step it up against the Gators since the Wildcats are very thin at running back. Chris Rodriguez Jr. was left off the depth chart earlier this week and FCS transfer Ramon Jefferson suffered a torn ACL last game and is out for the season.

2. LB J.J. Weaver

Redshirt-junior linebacker J.J. Weaver is one of the leaders on the Wildcats’ defense and will have a large role in their upcoming matchup against the Gators. Weaver is one of the best linebackers in the SEC and is coming off a breakout season.

During the 2021 season, Weaver played in twelve games and started in six. Weaver recorded 34 tackles with 20 solo tackles. He also led the Wildcats in sacks with six and second on the team in tackles for loss with ten.

The 6’5” 241-pound linebacker made a big impact in the season opener as he had five tackles, one tackle for loss, a sack, and forced a fumble. Weaver will have a tough task ahead of him with Florida’s rushing attack that rushed for over 280 yards and score four touchdowns last weekend versus Utah.

3. WR Tayvion Robinson

Senior wide receiver Tayvion Robinson played his first game with the Wildcats last weekend and it seems like he’s going to be an impact player for them. The Virginia Tech transfer had lots of success in the ACC and comes into the SEC as one of the best and most experienced slot receivers in the conference.

During his time at Virginia Tech, Robinson played in three seasons with the Hokies. He had 113 career receptions for 1,555 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had a punt return touchdown for the Hokies.

In his first game at Kentucky, Robinson led the Wildcats in receiving. Robinson caught six passes for 136 yards. The Virginia Beach native has some pretty big shoes to fill since the Wildcats lost Wan’Dale Robinson to the NFL after a huge 2021 season with the Wildcats.
