Putting Pierce into the game in the 4th Quarter. That's a balls move giving the most crucial carries to a true freshman that hadn't played in the game to that point. Was this Mullen using a "closer" strategy to run out the clock, putting in some fresh legs against a weary D line? Or, more interestingly, was it Mullen having enough of Scarlett getting 2 yards a carry? I know Scarlett subbed in for him on the 3rd down, but that (if I remember correctly) was for pass protection. I get a feeling we're going to see a lot less Scarlett and more Perine and Pierce.
