A few weeks ago I saw someone, supposedly an insider, on Florida Gators Reddit who claimed the Armstrong hiring, initially, had infuriated a few powerful boosters; the story being that they felt UF was not a program that handed over a defense to a 30-year old coordinator. That they were not attempting to 'block' the hire ("not done at Florida") but they were really surprised by it and it "had better work."
Maybe this is BS, maybe this happened and was much discussed on this site in the offseason. But it was first time I'd seen it and was wondering if there was truth to it. The point of this post is not to relitigate Armstrong's hiring. I am trying to find this post on Reddit but for the time being cannot.
Anyone?
