We have finally made it to the kick of Utah @ Florida – this off season felt like 100-years long to me for a variety of reasons but that is all behind us. 1st and 10 UF from the UF 8 yard line after a Jamarkis Weston return and a flag just like that on the first play of the game holding Gators. Not what I was hoping to see on the return team. Wright up the middle for about eight yards and we figure to be very STOUT inside with the ground game. AR Keeper for a first down and UF quickly back to the line going fast early on and I like that. 1st and 10 from the UF 21. Over the middle and there goes Ricky Pearsall for 14 and his first UF catch. UF goes quickly again and there goes AR down inside Utah territorydown to the Utah 46 and UF already with another rplay and there goes No 5 Wright inside the 35 yard line and 12 more yards. UF moving at warp speed right now. 1st and 10 four straight first downs on four plays and Montrell Johnson runs a dude over and coughs up the ball and all the way down to the UF 25 yard line..

One of my biggest keys, one thing I most wanted to see is this coaching staff and the ability to make halftime adjustments. Do we switch up the blitz coming from a mile away that is not even getting remotely close to the QB – reminds me of what TG used to do with his safeties…what adjustments will Napier make for the offense – move away from the screen plays and more crossing routes/middle of the field? We are about to find out shortly.
SECOND HALF:
I hate to keep talking about this BUT I was very much looking forward to seeing what kind of adjustments this staff could make in a tight game and we are in a tight game you must find a way to win in front of big-time recruits. Whatever we have in the playbook we must see it in the second half. Here we go.

UF in a dog fight right now with the No 7 ranked team in America. No way no how can you let Utah simply line up and run it down your throat like you did the last drive. 1st and 10 for Utah from the 28 yard line – Desmond in the middle of the DL and does not matter Utah 12 yards on the first play call of this drive. Heat and Humidity has impacted our team more overall than Utah by the way. 1st and 10 – Utah for another 6-yards and the DL is gassed for UF and looks like toast. 2nd and 4 for Utah and the D needs SOMEONE to step up and make something happen – Utah at the 45 and gain of 3 and now 3rd and 1 now for Utah – this is old school SEC type football and Utah with the flag – get LOUD Swamp. 3rd and 6 and lets see if that matters or not – it does not. Pass for 13 and too easy for Utah. Wow. Utah making the UF defense look pretty silly right now – 1st and 10 – and up the middle again for 7 more yards. And don’t get me wrong Utah did hardly much in the first half but they have done whatever they wanted this second half by handing the ball off – play action no one open and great discipline by the D that time and now a 3rd and 3 for the Utes and looks like another first down.
Twice the D had a chance to take control of this game and Utah went 89 on 9 plays for a TD last possession and this time they are marching right down UF’s throat.

1st and 10 UF and Henderson returns it again for some reason to the UF 21 yard line with another flag on UF – Notre Dame up 3-0 on OSU by the way. 2nd return flag early for the UF special teams, not good. 1st and 10 UF from the UF 11 yard line – Wright for maybe one yard 2nd and 9 – clock under ten minutes until the half – would like to see some explosive plays – Wright BLOWN up that time trying to go around the right side of the UF OL and now we are at 3rd and 12 roughly – whew! WR screen for no gain. Punt time. The UF passing game must be more than WR screens or it will be a long year on this side of the ball.
1st and 10 Utah from the UF 38-yard line- Utes more physical than the UF offense the last drive. Now up to the D – short field once again. 7:56 to play – this is a HUGE series – D can’t give up 7 – Run up the middle stop by Dexter and Princely loss of one and 2nd and 11 – Torrence came a LONG ways away on a S blitz and was not close. QB Keeper and he smoked Torrence made him look real bad missed tackle and first down. All the way to the UF 26-run up the middle for maybe two yards…..2nd and 8 – another missed tackle by Torrence and another first down. Same players different coaches, same missed tackles so far
1st and 10 and a QB run for a few yards. 2nd and 8 and clock under five minutes at the UF 14 yard line Swamp is LOUD again – Torrence again comes on a long blitz from a mile away not even close and Powell on the tackle out in the flats and a 3rd and 3 – that time Torrence makes the play and 4th and 2 inside the ten yard line and Utah will go for it as well – 4th and 3 call it – No way they call a play here and they did not they called TO before the snap….4th and 3 and they take the delay of game and never intended to run the play and here comes the FG unit. 13-7 Utah
1st and 10 UF from the UF 21 after Weston returns one from the goal line. 3:12 left until the half – nice pass to Henderson for a first down. 1st and 10 at the UF 35 – hits Pearsall again for another first down 15 -yards. 2:39 to go – from the 50 – MJ for about 4 or 5 yards. 2nd and 5 and clock under two minutes now – four WR with MJ at RB – and AR does what AR does takes off from about 45 yards out and TD AR.
1st and 10 Utah from the Utes 25 yard line – 1:42 and two timeouts. SWAMP IS LOUD – slant, Trevez Johnson beat for the first down 14 yards Utah going fast – Rising for 15-ayrds around right side. 1st and 10 and just like that 30 + yards for Utah all the way to the UF 48 – slant broken up by Marshall. 2nd and 10 – incomplete pass but another UF blitz and we are not even close on the blitz. 3rd and 10 - :53 seconds to go until the half – Devin Moore on the coverage guy wide open and missed him. 1st and 10 UF from the 25-yard line :41 seconds to play and couple of timeouts in our pocket. Wright back in the game – looks like we are content to run the clock out and go to the half with the one point edge. Back to the LOS but injury for Utah player down and it is Diabate.
2nd and 5 for UF with :20 seconds to play – and we go to the half with the lead after the clock runs out. One of my biggest keys, one thing I most wanted to see is this coaching staff and the ability to make halftime adjustments. Do we switch up the blitz coming from a mile away that is not even getting remotely close to the QB – reminds me of what TG used to do with his safeties…what adjustments will Napier make for the offense – move away from the screen plays and more crossing routes/middle of the field? We are about to find out shortly.
SECOND HALF:
I hate to keep talking about this BUT I was very much looking forward to seeing what kind of adjustments this staff could make in a tight game and we are in a tight game you must find a way to win in front of big-time recruits. Whatever we have in the playbook we must see it in the second half. Here we go.

First five minutes of this second half are HUGE – Utah right up the middle for 8 yards up the UF gut of the DL – another huge run all the way into UF territory now after a big big gain of 22-ayrds. 1st and 10 at the UF 44 and Thomas again for 8 more yards. 2nd and 2 and the Utah OL is punishing the UF DL right now to start this third QT – whew….UF had 8 guys at the LOS and Utah still goes for 4-5 yards. 1st and 10 now and Utah bullying UF DL this series at the 29 yard line of UF 1st and 10 – Four yard gain and Desmond Watson in the game now. 2nd and 6 after five straight runs and now a loss behind the LOS by Cox or call it no gain so 3rd and 6 – Princely was in on the tackle as well to clean it up – HUGE 3rd and 6 for the Gators and DC Coach Toney --- wheel route great great play call WIDE OPEN and Jalen Kimber on the tackle saves the TD. Quick snap and Utah down to the half yard line they are physically dominating UF right now….Flag on UF 12 guys on the field 2nd and G from the two inch line for Utah. RB falls down thankfully at the three yard line bc he was going to walk in for a TD. Whew. 3rd and G at the three yard line now – QB keeper to the one yard line – Powell on the tackle. 4th and inches for the TD – and looks like somehow he is short.
1st and 10 UF from the one inch line I guess you can call it? And another flag on UF, false start on Tarquin. Etienne in the game now – pass to Shorter for a first down. 1st and 10 at the UF 11 – 7 still in at RB – WOW two big time jump cuts by Etienne and first down UF. At the UF 33 – AR under big pressure throws it away to avoid a sack on the Utah blitz. 2nd and 10 – 7:47 in the 3rd QT – Etienne three carries for 39 yards – dart to Henderson for 7. 3rd and 3 – would love to see the downfield passing game soon. 3rd and 3 – from the UF 40 – Hits shorter on the bootleg for ten yards to the 50. To the line quickly now and empty set Pearsall started at RB and short down the middle of the field……2nd and 10 now QB keeper and gain of 4 yards for AR and a HUGE 3rd and 6 now. The UF offense is short quick passes and power run game play to your D and ball control…..another flag down on UF false start and that backs it up to 3rd and 9 for the Gators – horrible pass should have been a pick but dropped by Utah punt time for the Gators. AR missed Zip wide open over the middle crossing again….
1st and 10 Utah with 5:11 to go and we are in crunch time folks! From the Utah 10---Desmond is quick off the ball but has a hard time tracking down the RB but did that time. 2nd and 8 – Burney beat and a GREAT throw for 37 yards to the 50-great pass will beat great coverage and Burney was right there just got beat by a better throw right over the top of Burney who had no chance at the ball. 1st and 10 Utah from the 50 with 4:28 to go ---Swing pass brought down by Kamari Wilson after gain of 8. 2nd and 2 – Wilson and Devin Moore in the game for UF two true FR. Run for a first down
1st and 10 from the 39 of UF with 3:30 to go – another run and gain of one yard maybe two. 2nd and 9 I think and Justus Boone on the tackle. Jalen Lee in the game as well as Boone and Perkins. End around and Utah gets about 7 or so. HUGE 3rd and 4 coming up late in the 3rd QT – under two to play ---simple run off the left side of the OL and first down…..
1st and 10 from the UF 28 – UF shows blitz and false start on Utah. 1st and 15 – from the UF 34 – QB Keeper for 25 yards and he is talking big time trash to Dean who made the stop at the 8 of UF or so. DE came crashing in lost containment – Brenton Cox not playing smart football opened up that EASY run for Rising. 1st and Goal – easy toss sweep and TD Utah.
Two Point play and inside handoff ball on turf and no good – bad exchange – Utah up 5
1st and 10 UF from the 25-yard line with :12 to go in the 3rd – total yards by the way 300 for each team --- AR underthrows Zip so 2nd and 10 with 9 seconds to go, Utah brought pressure – fires one to Pearsall for a first down gain of 16-yards.
1st and 10 from the 41 and MJ with 11 yards and a first down at the Utah 48 – Zip across the middle for about 7 on the shallow crossing route. 2nd and 3 – MJ for one and AR should have kept that one for sure. 3rd and 2 now at the Utah 40 – whew MJ all the way down to the 22 yard line great vision by MJ. AR on the keeper and nine more yards 2nd and 1 and this is who we are offensively, power running team no question. MG with a nifty cut back and walks in for the TD GATORS.
AR on the two point pass to Fraziars and it was like a magic trick by AR. Man he was SOOO open I thought he would drop it. Haha wow
UF in a dog fight right now with the No 7 ranked team in America. No way no how can you let Utah simply line up and run it down your throat like you did the last drive. 1st and 10 for Utah from the 28 yard line – Desmond in the middle of the DL and does not matter Utah 12 yards on the first play call of this drive. Heat and Humidity has impacted our team more overall than Utah by the way. 1st and 10 – Utah for another 6-yards and the DL is gassed for UF and looks like toast. 2nd and 4 for Utah and the D needs SOMEONE to step up and make something happen – Utah at the 45 and gain of 3 and now 3rd and 1 now for Utah – this is old school SEC type football and Utah with the flag – get LOUD Swamp. 3rd and 6 and lets see if that matters or not – it does not. Pass for 13 and too easy for Utah. Wow. Utah making the UF defense look pretty silly right now – 1st and 10 – and up the middle again for 7 more yards. And don’t get me wrong Utah did hardly much in the first half but they have done whatever they wanted this second half by handing the ball off – play action no one open and great discipline by the D that time and now a 3rd and 3 for the Utes and looks like another first down.
Twice the D had a chance to take control of this game and Utah went 89 on 9 plays for a TD last possession and this time they are marching right down UF’s throat.
1st and 10 at the UF 33 yard line and under 9 to play – Bootleg all the way down to the 13 yard line and this game has the feel of last team with the ball wins the game we will see. 1st and 10 from the 13 – that last play went for 20 -yards. Thomas again down to the 9 and four more yards. 2nd down and 6 for the Utes – 375 yards for UF and 368 for Utah. Another run for Utah and probably a foot short of the first down so 3rd and 1 from the UF four yard line – Sapp and Lee inside that time and they walked into the endzone for another Utah TD second in a row for the Utes 11 plays 73 yards and Utah goes up 26-22. 6:26 to play last team with the ball wins the game here we go.

And I gotta be honest MJ was MOTORING last drive I would like to see him again and a FRESH Etienne here. 2nd and 8 – Wright for about two more maybe so call it 3rd and 4 and this play might be the game no kidding – whew looks like Henderson got the first down on the WR quick out only bc he made a quick hard cut for the first down line. 1st and 10 now – Wright is CRUSHED after two yards helmet knocked off has to leave the game. 2nd and 9 and looks like here comes Etienne – nice gain for about 8 call it 3rd and 1
Etienne with a HUGE RUN and lost the ball and got it back holy wow!!!. 1st and 10 UF at the 35 Etienne for about 4 yards clock ticking away at 3:30 and counting. 2nd and 6 – Dive play to MJ for maybe two. 3rd and 5 now under three minutes to play….HUGE PLAY of the GAME COMING UP

Still stunned we ran the clock all the way down like that now UF left with one timeout and a big 4th and 3. I guess he feels if they don’t get the first down the game is over and one more timeout would not make an impact and if they get the first down he has enough time to score.
4th and 3 and the Billy Napier home opener has come down to this one single play at home vs. the No 7 ranked team in America with 1:52 to play – WHEW it was a pass play and luckily it broke down and he had a lane to run through. MJ with a HUGE block!!!! 1st and 10 now from the Utah 18 – AR run for a gain of about 3 and he went out of bounds ugh. BIG mistake. Clock stops at 1:44

1st and 10 at the Utah 25 and two timeouts plenty of time. The D has had three second half chances to take control of this game and has failed the previous two times. Now they have a chance to preserve the win. Easy first down pass up to the 41 of Utah on the first play. 1st and 10 and 1:19 to go for the Utes – Ventrell Miller dropped game ending pick. Have to make those plays in that kind of situation with the game on the line. 2nd and 10 1:15 to play ---- simple crossing route for 14 yards
1st and 10 from the Utah 49 – pass for about three yards and quick stop by Miller forces Utah to use the timeout. 2nd and 7 – Pac 12 is 1-7 in week one matchups the last 11 seasons. This is a big deal for UF and Utah. Utah one TO left and UF has two – 1:04 to play – and Utah making it look pretty easy moving into UF territory and another quick TO for Utah. BUT now we have a 3rd and 6 with no timeouts for Utah. And again they make it look easy for a first down and another missed tackle
1st and 10 Utah from the 19 – and big hit by Devin Moore clock runs down to 33 seconds and Utah apparently had a timeout. They gave a TO back to Utah earlier….catch and pass super easy to the UF 6 yard line for a 1st and Goal and you let Utah drive righ down your throat to win this game in your own building.
1st and Goal :29 seconds and the Gators need a miracle – and incomplete pass. 22 seconds to play and they get a miracle and he is wearing Jersey No 2
