Might be some insight over on the Texas site here on the Network as to why Chris Rumph left Texas so soon after being hired by Charlie Strong.

Despite Texas being one of the richest athletic departments in college sports, apparently the new AD does things on the cheap. There is talk over there that he has instituted all sorts of cost cutting measures, including making the coaches pay for their own meals after a certain number of times eating with their players in the athletic dining hall each month.

If the coaches want to go in and eat with the players, they have to do it on their own dime after doing so after 30 times a year (once a week).

The Longhorns lost six of their eight support staff members because though Strong requested that they get a bump in salary from 24K to 50K, the AD refused and thus they had a mass turnover.

They are making coaches pay for certain things while out on the road recruiting.
