JUSTIN PEARSON AND JUSTIN JONES, TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS WHO WERE EXPELLED, SCORE BIG ELECTION WIN

Nashville, Tennessee - The two Tennessee lawmakers expelled from the state legislature by Republicans earlier this year have handily won their special election primaries!

Justin Pearson of Memphis and Justin Jones of Nashville had no trouble winning their primaries on Thursday, as both state representatives received resounding support from their constituents at the ballot box.
Pearson garnered a decisive 96% of the vote against challenger David Page in results released Thursday, while Jones ran uncontested.

"The first wave of votes are in and WE WON!!!" Pearson tweeted. "We are now officially the Democratic candidate for the General Election in District 86!! #PeoplePower did this!! Let’s keep going!!!"

The election came after the Republican supermajority in the Tennessee House voted to expel the two Black lawmakers in April. They, along with their Democratic colleague Gloria Johnson, had led demonstrations against gun violence in the state Capitol following a deadly school shooting in Nashville in late March.

Surely no one should find this surprising. Those guys are radical blacks being set on a liberal pedestal. Fortunately the Tennessee State House is heavily Republican.for what that's worth.

What does their race have to do with their expulsion?

Are you saying that if they were white they wouldn't have been reelected by their constituents or that the democratic party in Tennessee wouldn't be supporting them?

  • Wow

You tell us, that's what you said in the OP:

What does their race have to do with their expulsion?

Ahhhh poor malone is in the midst of having another topic fly right over his head because he doesn't know how to deal with a discussion about race.

We've already had one topic about race vaporized by the mid because a conservative here didn't know how to discuss it without racist remarks about black people

Is this thread going to be #2 today?

(Did you notice how the NAACP Mississippi cop thread disappeared after billy the c's comment about blacks?)

Its an ingenious strategy...if there's a thread about race just make a racist remark and it will be erased and you don't have to deal with the issue anymore

i am of the opinion things are less about race and more about perspective, most people dont know what its like to look up...

So were they put on a pedestal because of their race?

Does that only happen with radical blacks & the democratic party or does that happen with MAGA whites & the GOP too?

For example MGT or Paul Gosar?

So you've already had one thread deleted this morning?

Sounds like you continue to engage in behavior that the BO doesn't agree with.

Was really hoping you had wised up during your timeout. Ah well. Are you familiar with the term FAFO?

If their race doesn't matter, why did you mention it?

It wasn't deleted because of anything I said in the thread

It was deleted because bill the c...one of the trump conserbatives here didn't know how to hold a conversation with using racist smears

The thread had been up for WEEKS but taken down because of his comments today not mine...

I just reported the offensive post to the mod...and he chose to delete the whole thread

Was that what I was asking the question about? No.

I was asking Steverino why he said these were 2 radical blacks put on a pedestal so it was no surprise they would win their primaries

Does he even know the race of the challenger Jones beat?

And he concluded by saying fortunately the house is majority republican implying that those elections are somehow better

That seems like two very racist viewpoints right there if I'm reading him correctly

So I asked him to clarify his remarks

You on the otherhand are mischaracterizing, not understanding, or simply trolling

hard to tell with you given your general lack of understanding

You should know how the system works....you've cried to Jason so many times before about threads you can't handle that its actually become the system

malone cries about a thread he can handle and the management just deletes the thread rather than deal with the crybaby

Mission accomplshed since malone needs cancel culture to cope with life

You were asking him why he mentioned race, after YOU mentioned race.

It's disingenuous, but every thread you start here is.

Like starting a thread about a BIG POLITICAL WIN, only to check the facts and find out this was just the primaries, and the 'win' came because no one ran against him.

I've never had any of my threads deleted. Then again, I don't break the rules when I post either.

That's because your threads are worthless to begin with and no one cares about them...

That's what defines you being my fanboy...your content sucks 😂

When your searching your skull for your next thread topic....here a little help

Make it another "Will you vote for trump" or "Who would you vote for besides trump" because they're such unique & thought provoking topics you just can't get enough of asking the question...

🤣

US has a long history of state lawmakers silencing elected Black officials and taking power from their constituents

Mississippi legislators have enacted a law that would create a new judicial system covering the state’s capital city, Jackson, in place of the current county court system.

Set to take effect July 1, 2023, the move by a Republican-dominated legislature has been criticized by opponents as creating a “separate and unequal” court system that is not answerable to the majority-Black community it would seek to govern.

The law was justified by supporters as an effort to curb the city’s crime level, which includes one of the highest murder rates in the nation. But the move is the second time in as many months that state legislatures have taken highly visible actions to effectively disenfranchise Black voters: On April 6, the Tennessee House of Representatives expelled two Black members who represented mostly Black districts.

As a sociologist who studies race and ethnicity, I have closely followed these moves by the states. Throughout U.S. history, I see three main periods of legislative disenfranchisement in which legislative bodies have voted to expel members. These events have been shown to be a form of “white backlash” working to keep Black officeholders out of power and their constituents powerless without representation.
