Way back in the day, UPD, GPD, and ASO office were accused of being like
tallycrappy and
South Ben-dover still are to this day, and so they over-corrected to the point that they now arrest for anything
(wolf-wolf) and everything,
(a nuggie tap on top of the head of the ID checker at the door is called an assault on a bouncer). This has created excessive arrests resulting in the need for
'Official apologies' for spurious arrests, with a larger
'percentage' of a lack of convictions. One thing compounding the other in UF's case.
Double Jeopardy imo for the athletes at UF. Yes, sometimes star athletes get a break from authorities that others might not have been given. Yes, most times they are also under a micro-scope that others would never even be seen in. Balance is the best you can hope for, there is no
'perfect justice' anywhere that I've ever seen.
IMO, it's okay if they get an occasional break on the little stuff, as long as their feet are held to the fire for any BIG stuff. Things that I personally don't like are: Academic Fraud - knee twisting or hand stomping on the field. and any form of vicious violence or major theft or armed robbery off the field. Especially rapes or felony assault & battery on anyone. And while UF is still not perfect in it's applications, they are miles ahead of most others imoho, and especially ahead of the other two I've mentioned,,, again imo.
In those other places, through blind-eyed authorities, or threats and intimidation, very few are ever arrested, or prosecuted, or convicted, while in South Ben-dover they won't even open their records to anyone without a court order, (2% my azz) which you are never going to get up there anyway. They deny and/or cover-up everything, while they investigate and/or intimidate the victims and any witnesses per their own alum journalist.
ND Grad / National Catholic Reporter, article by Melinda Henneberger wrote about the
'DECADES LONG VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AT Notre Dame.' But even with that level of exposure, the 'cover-up specialist' there have never cleared up the suicide/murder of Lizzy, they only continue to either ignore it, or they blame the victims for their thug/drunks atrocities....
That recent
'highly selective' article by ESPN is not much more than a poor joke imo.
* Maybe UF's Award Winning Journalism School should produce an article on that ESPN writer....
Anyone can be arrested, just like anyone can be sued, but it takes some real evidence to get a conviction.
And that's why the article is about
arrests, instead of about convictions or about the schools actions when something like that occurs. They wanted off season
'sensationalism,' not facts or the truth.
