No, if the system was racist, he would have been convicted. Part of the reason he was not convicted (Or should not have been convicted) was the police did a terrible job collecting, handling and with the chain of custody of the evidence. OH, and some of the jurors have recently come out and said they voted against conviction solely because it was payback for Rodney King.
What I remember, and it was /IS disgusting is that most black people(and some whites) screamed with joy when he got off. They knew he was guilty..but it did not matter. Such disgust with that.

Gil Garcetti was the one who screwed up the trial. He thought the evidence was so overwhelming that race wouldn't matter. He was so wrong.
