Not to mention unlike the state of Georgia where there’s one real option for players to go to, Florida kids have way more options. Not even counting FSU and Miami who have 8 titles between them, everybody in the south comes to Florida for players. There’s more competition to recruit Florida than just about anywhere else. You’re not gonna wake up and just have top classes here just because. It’s amazing how somebody can be so wrong about everything over and over again.

Recruiting has nothing to do with coaching. And as much as you all try to downplay Richt, he averaged 10 wins a year over 15 years, current recruits have seen UGA be relevant their entire lives. By comparison UF has had a losing record twice in the last five years. That and Kirby was able to sell being Saban’s right hand man at Bama. Put all that together and it’s not hard to see why he’s having success. Stable program, no in-state competition, surrounding programs like FSU, UF, and UT struggling, and able to sell the dream of playing for championships. If he doesn’t deliver recruiting will trail off, just like it does for any coach who isn’t competing for titles.

But this is playing out as we post in this thread, Mullen is recruiting at a conference USA level, for being the great playcaller and talent developer he has won nothing. Plus he is now recruiting at a Miss State level even with FSU and Miami a mess, notice the OL commit of today for reference. But please keep making excuses for him, with a little help maybe he can finish 3rd in the East again, but Missouri could be a problem.

Look above, I credited Richt for winning the east when Florida was coming off basically a dynasty decade, Zook was stockpiling talent, a NC winning coach was at UT, and a HOF coach was at SCar.
In all honesty I don't think winning the East was a huge accomplishment when both Butch and Mc were out the door and Muschamp is the Head Coach of any program. Last year UF and UT had coaches in year one at their program and Muschamp was still a HC over a program. That has to count as "down" in most books, right? I even think it was impressive the year UGA won the east when Muschamp had his lone good year at UF and Spurs still had some spunk roaming the SCar sidelines.
It's you guys who discredit your own team when Richt won the east in his early tenure and the one in the early part of the current decade.

Just looking at a total ranking isn’t very bright. You have as many 3* as you do 4* and you have 3 more total commits, yet trail in points. Do you think Miami has a great class? They are ranked higher than both of us.
What else will you look at 6 months before signing day? I mean, it doesn't matter squat now, so one measure is as good as another.
I also note that after camps this summer a lot of star levels will change, does Mullen have an eye for talent? Will some of those 3's be bumped to 4's? This is what I mean about it not meaning squat.

I mentioned before we never celebrated our NCAA finals loss in 2000. We never celebrated our loss to Nebraska in 1995, we never celebrated our Final Four loss to UCONN, and never celebrated our CWS losses in 2005 and 2011.
Oh I forgot, we never celebrated our East titles in 1992, 1999, 2009, 2015 and 2016.

It takes two things to be the best: Talent and coaching. Georgia has a lot of one and not enough of the other.

Bama won the NC against Georgia in 2017 with a true freshman QB. Who seasoned DC Kirby Smart had no answer for.
