Alan Judd, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reporter who wrote the expose’ on UGA’s football program, has resigned. The Georgia Bulldog affiliated media and the football program found that Judd had left the Louisville Courier-Journal in 1988 when he could not produce tape recordings of conversations Judd alleged he had had for an expose’ on high school sports.

Given that there is a 35-year gap between Judd’s forced departure in Louisville and the fall-out now over his reporting on the UGA issues his resignation raises questions.

Has Judd resigned because he is guilty of creating the UGA reports without facts?

Has he been pushed out because UGA power brokers are assaulting AJC.com?

There seems to be bountiful evidence to substantiate Alan Judd’s reporting. At least 312 traffic incidents, over 60 of them serious, 11 women who have reported to police sexual assault against them, and this winter’s tragic deaths of Chandler LeCroy and Devin Willock. Plus a $40 million wrongful death lawsuit filed against UGA by Wllock’s parents, and a lawsuit filed by a former staffer badly mangled with lifetime injuries from that accident.

Judd has been with the AJC since 1999, apparently without pressure to resign before rubbing UGA the wrong way.
