What's up with these Texas and Oklahoma wanting to join SEC rumors?

"Tell me you know nothing about the history of conference realignment without telling me you know nothing about the history of conference realignment."
It's not realignment. It's the requirement of inequitable revenue sharing and the Longhorn network that caused the toxic environment.

But it's a new day in Austin. Big fish little pond days are over. Let's see how well UT and it's fans adjust.

More likely 24-25 given they claim they will honor their current contracts. Whatever the f that means.
Three years of absolute hate every time any of their teams travels. I mean, they are killing the Big 12 and sending several of those teams into permanent obscurity. Those fans will not be pleased, and the brunt of their anger will be taken out on 19-22 year olds.

If they honor the deals it means 2025 I think. There was a way to do it by 2023 I think but they would pay some really big penalties.

What I've heard is '22 or '23. It happened that quickly with TAMU & Mizzou. Like LG89 said, it will be toxic. They will negotiate down the penalty, pay it and move on.

$75M in fees/penalties if they move before 2025 but that is just what they are saying right now. My guess is it will happen before then.

No 'Honor' is to be found in TX/OK it seems to me.

They bagged on aTm and Mizzou when they bolted to the SEC, and now they want to follow, after they've basically killed yet another conference with their BTT arrogance and greed.

July 2025 is when the 'Media Contracts' run out and are up for renewal.

Anything before then is a matter of negotiating with the other Big-whatever schools, and/or buying their way out of their un-Honored conference contracts....

Courts will settle it for less. If both schools want in the SEC sooner it’s like any investment. Short term losses for long term gains.

Curious to see what they do. Maybe end it 1 year early in 2024 instead of 2025 so the exit costs in the deals are only half as much as 2023 as a starting point. Will be interesting to see when this happens. Either 2023, 2024 or 2025.

You could always actually learn about the history of, for instance, the SWC and realignment rather than applying completely inapt analogies to it. Or not, I guess.
At the end of the season, all of the SEC members get an EQUAL share of the SEC produced money.
0-9 Vandy gets the same amount check that the SEC-C & NC Bama gets....
This is how little Vandy can afford to expand their stadium and do other improvements to their various sports programs.

At the end of the season, does 0-9 Kansas get the same money that Texas gets?
Does 2-7 Baylor get the same money that Big12-10-whatever Champ Choke-la-homo gets?
Who set the Big12 Conference up in such an uneven way, that the bigger gets BIGGER, while the smaller just continue to suck hine-tit and languish?

Fairness and Honor doesn't exist in The Big-12-10-whatever, and that's why they continue to fall apart.
The rest of the country is pretty sure of where the blame for that situation resides.....
The SEC taking in TX/OK, is inviting a situation that resembles having a cancer in your locker room.

(or having a traitorous Socialist in your WH)

I hate to tell you this, but your statement backs up what socialism is about, (EQUAL) share.

SEC Unanimously voted to invite Texas & Oklahoma to join.:

Are Michigan, Ohio State, Clemson & FSU next?

That would end college football as we know it. What is left would have no power at all to dictate anything.

I think we're heading towards 3 Super Conferences of 20 teams each. Will take several years and a lot of maneuvering, but that's what I think is coming. I don't like it, but it's all about $$$ without any concern for traditions, history, etc.

I like it. I think really only two 20+ conferences would suffice. They can break away from the NCAA and make their own rules. We’ll have an AFL vs NFL style playoff and championship game. SEC vs BIGACC.

While I don't hate to respond in this way:

Venezuela is what socialism is all about, and if you believe that Socialism or Communism actually act like they talk, then you're as deluded as you seem to be....
Both look good on paper, but they both function very differently in application.
People flee both systems all over the world for any chance to come to the Capitalist U.S.
They have to build walls to keep people in their systems, while we need to build walls in an attempt to control how many we can let in and absorb each year, or we should.....

Sports conferences do not compare well with the governments of countries.

Equal shares of conference produced monies to conference members, is not the same as their total capitalist earned yearly incomes.
Bama and Vandy don't end up with the same total over-all bank accounts.
'The head does not produce tail.'

Equity of opportunity is expressed in the 'Declaration of Independence' and the American Constitution with the Bill of Rights.
Sometimes it suffers in application, but it still gives individual freedom and it improves over time if the majority of citizens remain vigilant. That's an ongoing process.

The original colonists fought for independence and personal freedom from the dictates of royalty.
Slavery was introduced in America from Europe and Africa. It was not brought in by the original colonists, just the opposite.
White Christians over turned slavery in the UK, and then with help from the 'all races Abolitionists' in the U.S. when they got Republican Lincoln elected President.

Democrat led Segregation settled in for a few decades in the transition period.
Now, all are given their chance to WORK for their own place in a mostly free society.
Freedom is a process that requires the work of all citizens to achieve and maintain.
Freedom isn't FREE, and it never has been, but it's always been worth fighting for.

The 'New World Order' is currently making it's move to end individual freedoms with an internal Socialist/Communist take-over of the united States. It remains to be seen if the current citizens will stand up and fight for their freedoms, of kneel down in fear and become serfs and/or slaves of the dick-taters again.

Sports Conferences are on a joke level in comparison imo....

(note to mod, I'm not the one that brought up socialism on this thread, I responded)

That was a great way to deflect from the meant meaning of my post. You have to realize, I am on your side. I expected a thesis, but the way things are being changed for greed it has to go that way. I believe it is socialist driven. Socialism has one last chance to survive and guess who the world is depending on?

Greed has a long history of destroying anything and everything of human value.
Sports is of little 'real' value to anyone with a life worth living...
If all sports ended tomorrow, but true FREEDOM was restored to my country, I'd be just fine with that outcome....

Communism - The Government owns and controls everything.
The greedy tyrants at the top still take the lion's share, while the rest fight over what remains.

Socialism - Government takes from those who work, and gives it to those that don't.
The greedy tyrants at the top still take the lion's share, while the rest beg for what remains.

Capitalism - Work hard/smart, and keep what you produce.
Freely given personal Charity to any that you believe deserve it.
While communism and socialism continue to be a cancer on personal freedoms.
The greedy tyrants will always work to destroy capitalism and freedom.
Freedom requires personal accountability, responsibility, and constant vigilance...

Simplistic maybe, but that's how I see it...

I don't like the idea of Super Conferences and the control that they would use for their own greedy purposes. While an all expense paid college degree has been devalued so that personal greed (NIL) can take it's place.

I no longer support any Pro Sports.
A while ago I stopped watching Olympic sports like I did in my younger days.
College Sports are looking like they're next to go off my watch/interest list.
There's way more to life than watching someone else playing a game....
