We need more Dameon Pierce type players!!!!!!!!!

He should have gotten in every game and stayed in there until he needed a blow. This is one of the reasons I had no regrets about shit canning Mullin, and I hung with Mullin until midseason.
Mullen pissed me off big-time too. I was all-in with him in the beginning. His arrogance and lack of discipline towards his team proved to be his downfall. Not to mention lack of recruiting.

He'd still be here if he'd fired Grantham last year. Chalk that one up to arrogance, like you said. Like Kiffin, he can flat out coach. But the other baggage that came with it wasn't worth it.

Right. He held on to Grantham far too long. I still remember that squabble they had on the sidelines last year. It was obvious to the fan base nad alumni those two weren't getting along.

Fvcking 3rd and short and we run the skinny QB instead of our stout RB.

Gah I'm sick of anything related to Mullen. Yes I love Greg Knox but this finesse type offense sucks. I know @Michi will pefer a QB running on every important play but damn use your arsenal. Ball should have been Pierce's.

Pierce was much like Perine in 4.0 quality, just not quite as good as a receiver.
He will definitely get his shot in the NFL.

For 2022 so far:

Wright 5-9 196 rsJr **** - 76 for 4.3 ypc

Lingard 6-0 203 rsSr ***** 11 for 3.9 ypc (Miami xfer)

Bowman 5-10 193 rsSo ***** 14 for 5.8 ypc (Clemson xfer)

After seeing running back Dameon Pierce
run at the Senior Bowl, I have to wonder how he maxed out at 100 carries last season. The season before he had 107 with an offense that had a dynamic passing game, so that makes more sense. But in 2021 the Gators needed a consistent running game with Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts and others gone. And Pierce runs hard, very hard.
He was the leading rusher at running back, but how does Emory Jones
get 43 more carries? And why did Pierce split carries with Malik Davis and Nay’Quan Wright?
Those guys are solid backs, but Pierce is clearly a big, bruising back who would get stronger with more carries.
So what the heck was Dan Mullen thinking? Florida might have beaten Alabama (Pierce had two touchdowns despite only seven rushes) and Kentucky (eight rushes for 54 yards). The Gators could have gotten off to a 5-0 start and things could have been very different last season. Mullen has no one to blame but himself.

RB Nay'Quan Wright is exactly the kind of rock solid person they needed to become a Gator. He embodies everything that's still good at Socialist-U, without becoming a Godless liberal socialist himself.

God is still a center-piece in him and his families lives, to the benefit of all who come in contact with him/them. “I’m kind of a guy of faith, so even when it’s looking crazy, I always believe. Back in the spring, I felt I was 100%, you know what I mean, and I wasn’t a 100% (physically). I just always try to control my thoughts and always keep it positive," he said.

Head coach Billy Napier says that Wright is "on schedule," indicating that he is one of the players that he respects the most on his roster, noting his integrity and consistency in the attitude he brings day-in-and-day-out. "He’s been productive in a game setting here. This place means something to him. He cares about his teammates. Nay’Quan’s one of the players on our team who has a voice, who does have impact."
-----

What I like best about Napier's ideas on a running game, is that he understands the many advantages of using a committee running game, instead of just running one guy into the dirt across a long SEC season.

I can't wait to see all 4(5) of them doing their thing in turn, even the true Fr Etienne.... That 4 RB group of bruisers will wear down any D over the course of a game. They are going to get tired of having the ball run down their throats all day by guys that are never tired, or bored.....

Lorenzo Lingard ------ 6-0 209 rsJr
Nay'Quan Wright ----- 5-9 202 rsSo
Montrell Johnson Jr - 5-11 218 So
Trevor Etienne --------- 5-9 217 Fr
> Eddie Battle ---------- 5-11 225 rsSr - a PWO xfer from SE MizzSt (don't know, we'll see?)

And then throw in a 6-4 238 4.4/40 dual threat QB.....

Damn shame Mullen didnt know how to use this kid
That's such a tired worn out crock of chit.

Pierce - 100 for 574 net, 5.7 ypc, 13 TD's, L-27
Davis --- 92 for 487 net, 5.3 ypc, 5 TD's, L-32

Give Pierce 1/2 of Davis 92 carries and the result would be .4 x 46 = plus 18 yds

Pierce 146 for 832 yds, 5.7 ypc 15 TD's
Davis 46 for 244, 5.3 ypc, 3 TD's

A total difference of + 18 yards for their combined rushing. And it would have given Pierce 46 more chances to get injured....

Pierce was way better and was the type to wear a defense down with more use - the same time Dan would yank him out to put in another back. Mullen was just hard headed. The same reason he stuck with Franks until fate stepped in and allowed Trask to take over. I bet you think Mullen was really smart sticking with Franks also as Trask clearly wouldn't have been the better option before that KY injury stepped in.

The start of this post was Edited out by the iG to save Paco some time,,,, don't have a clue about most anything, due I guess, to having feveredbrains..... Pack up your straw men and BS. on your way out....

Dan played RB by committee and the team rushed for over 200 yds/gm vs SEC-D's.
In fact, more than Napier's RB by committee did in 2021, vs Sun Belt D's

And Nappy will run by committee again in 2022, even including the freshman in a 4 man rotation. Which RB this year will be under used because of that, and will Billy get the same kind of idiot's abuse?

There should be a good turnaround hopefully. We are back to having a nice combo on the line with Cox being healthy now. We just have to be able to hold up against Utah's rushing game with those 2 TE sets.

Ranked 74th in 2020 and 73rd in 2021?

Sometimes it's the idiot coach, sometimes it's the undisciplined / entitled arrogant players...
Often times, your own bias makes the difference on who gets the blame.

2021 6-7 - UF Pts 399 - Opp 348 - The crappy Off wasn't much help for the failing Def..
Seems to me that the entire team, players & coaches, came apart at the seems. They were all mailing it in by the LSU game...

2020 8-4 - UF Pts 478 - Opp 370 - Trask carried the undisciplined shoe throwing Def.

2019 11-2 - UF Pts 432 - Opp 201 - Grantham is obviously even more incompetent. Team Defense ranked at #7 in FBS.

2018 10-3 - UF Pts 455 - Opp 260 -
Grantham is obviously incompetent.
Team Defense ranked at #20.

2017 - Team Defense ranked at #69 before Grantham took over.

Riding on Granthams butt as being incompetent is idiotic, and it doesn't agree with the facts of the matter over his 4 years. While siding with the UGly nuttlickers is an ugly view for any Gator fan imo....

But hey, keep it up, because some of you are beginning to look and act like little buttsniffers, wanting to be right with your VI claims, instead of being fair-minded while using all 4 years of his stats...

I don't remember entitled players but I do remember undisciplined players coached by 3rd and Grantham of course. Even the Lizard pointed out whenever Grantham faced a decent OL, the opposing QB had all day to throw, hence the name, 3rd and Grantham.

Just close you eyes and repeat that over and over, like any good buttsniffer does....

Team Defense ranking went from #69 to #20.

2019 11-2

Team Defense ranked at
#7 in FBS, but that was before they preformed that frontal lobotomy on him in 2020 I'm guessing? 🙄

In 2018, let's not forget UF lost for the first time since 1986 to UK. Gave up 36 points to Georgia and 42 vs a garbage Mizzou team that hadn't won an SEC game. Then gives up 31 to a Muschamp led Cock team.

2019, gave up 49 points to LSU and gave up over 20 to a garbage Miami team and an offensively challenged Georgia team.

In these cases, rankings don't mean squat.

Some people rejoice in the negative, while others enjoy the positive.

Each to his own....
😎
