Boom!

Now, how will he accomplish not assisting? This will be interesting to watch.

There won’t be anything to watch. DeSantis isn’t going to do anything anyway because Trump won’t fight the extradition.

DeSantis announcing he won’t “cooperate” with an extradition would like me announcing I won’t be accepting the Nobel Prize. It wasn’t gonna happen anyway.

I hear you but his position hints at the validity of the potential warrant. Governors are allowed to refuse extradition if the charging state doesn't provide a "valid" warrant.

I absolutely agree that this is a grey area and that DeSantis would be leaning on the thinnest of technicalities here...but it just might be doable.

All of that said, it might be entirely unnecessary. Trump may well choose to turn himself in.
If it's a valid warrant and Trump doesn't meet the four exceptions to the interstate extradition act He is not doing his job. You can't be law and order when you feel like it.

True...and I suspected that he might turn himself in. But it would have been interesting to watch.

I suspect the Democrat operatives (whitehouse and DOJ) are directing this Democrat D.A. in this matter because they want to instigate and incite the conservative Repubs to riot so they can imprison and prosecute more Republicans. The DOJ is gonna be so screwed if there is ever a Republican elected president again.
This. Feels like they REALLY want a white guy with a red hat to act like the trans person in Nashville.

They just don’t have enough white male republican murder to make the narrative easy right now.

Yea I didn’t see “charges are BS” as an exception.

That’s the scariest part of a weaponized judicial system.

Hammer meet nail...that's exactly the kind of technicality that I was referring to.

And like I said, if he wasn't turning himself in, it would have been interesting to watch.
President Clinton asking for the definition of a definite article on national television was one of the most embarrassing and cringeworthy things I've ever seen.

...for valid warrants.

Word play, I get it. But that's the angle. My guess is that Trump will turn himself in because he believes that the left just did him a favor.

We'll see.
Or if he was in Florida fleeing from the indictment. Which he is not. I think Trump could likely win if he wanted to fight it but looks like he doesn't.

He wants to get mugshotted so every dem will post it all over SM for the next year.

It will become his new campaign poster.

That's not an exception. But it does have to be a "valid" warrant. I could absolutely see that as something that two people might interpret differently.

Is that thin? LOL, hell yes it is...probably as thin as this indictment in fact. 😂

I could be wrong but if Trump is in Florida, and he knows that he has a warrant in New York, not turning himself in technically constitutes "fleeing."

Agree with your thoughts on why Trump wants to turn himself in.

That may be accurate. I get it, but the whole extradition thing would be interesting to watch. I would also like to know if DeSantis made that statement before or AFTER it was reported that Trump was going to turn himself in.

Shrewd move by DeSantis, either way.

It sure as hell would have been.

Ditto. If it was before, it was a seriously risky move. And I'm not going to lie, it fascinated me tbh.

Then again, what was his risk? It's pretty much hail Mary time at this point for RDS.

Was it though?

I would have waited til I saw the indictment before going in dry like that. Trump isn't stupid he knows the Dems would love him to prove he thinks he's above the law. He also knows they aren't going to perp walk him like a mob boss and he's not going to be denied bond if they set one and he's not going to the Tombs while they negotiate. DeSantis knew that too. So DeSantis makes a grand gesture and in the slight chance he's wrong, a federal judge orders him to comply, He shrugs and says he believes in the rule of law and looks like a hero. I don't see a negative.

Why wouldn't it be a valid warrant? It went through a grand jury.

You are showing to be a person who only believes in law and order when it benefits "your" side. Truly dangerous for the position you hold.

I think you are better off taking evil position on this one.

He is taking my position but in an amusing twist he's playing devil's advocate.

If the DA didn't hate his politics / personality, he wouldn't have been charged.

BTW - "Inappropriate behavior" isn't indictable or impeachable.

I agree re Trump's personality. Guy is an extreme narcissist.

Thing is, some narcissists are cold & calculating, they know how to manipulate people & they're always looking for the opportunity to do so. Barack Obama is "that type."

Others . . . . they're narcissists, in terms of their thinking the world should revolve around them, but they're not "cold & calculating," their personality simply isn't disciplined enough to pull it off. That's Trump, through & through.

Trump coming from New York, having mouthed the words which made him acceptable in that environment for years & years (look it up . . . . Dems loved him for a long time), I worried the Dems would play to his ego & roll him.

There was certainly an opportunity there - early in his presidency, he talked about working with the Dems on a few issues when the Republican leadership wasn't following his lead. And he did say his sister would be good on the Court (not even in jest does that pass the smell test).

Dems choosing to hate him drove him to the right. Dems going so over the top in their hatred of him made him what he became.

It used to be "Republicans say Dems are wrong, Dems say Republicans are evil."

Now it's mutual - Dems say Republicans are evil, Republicans say Dems are evil.

That's the risk. A future political opponent can now say, "how can you claim to be a law and order guy?"

To your point, DeSantis can counter...this was a move to support law and order.

Weaponized justice system because Trump was charged?

You haven't seen any evidence, you don't know what the charges are, you don't know anything other than Bragg is a Democrat and Trump is a Republican. That makes you connect this to a weaponized judicial system? 😔

It's more like you guys politicizing it. Trying to use politics to make Democrat ADs scared to prosecute Republicans for fear of looking politicized.

I think maybe you aren't actually understanding what I'm saying.

And I love when folks like you believe that a policeman's contemplations are somehow more policed than everyone else's. We're free to contemplate crap just like those in your field are.

LOL

What is he being charged with?

His typical debate Kalim to debate Kalim. Considering we (you & I) are taking the same position 🤔.

Sigh, holy crap kalim. Get over yourself. I wasn't even debating you here. If I was debating anyone, it was Evil...and he's not in his feelings about it.

Why do you always do this? We were simply having an interesting debate and you always make it about emotion. Damn man, freaking stop already.

You are but you seem to only "respect" the law when it applies to the side you dislike, that's dangerous.

If I only thought other companies should follow FDA rules and guidelines, that would be dangerous to consumers who use the medicine we make.

I have my own opinions, as do you. At the same time, there are some things that we have to believe, in order to do our job fairly.

Law and order should be for you.

I promise I won't drag this particular convo out like I usually do. Just stated my thoughts.

You replied to me about my constitution comment. So yes you were debating me.

Then why can't you see what he's doing?
I know what he's doing lol. I am just being stubborn and want him to admit it. He claims and continue to claim that, I'm making it up. So in college, it's a battle of egos.

Not trying to get you involved, TBH.

Do you think Bragg attempts to indict Obama for this if it was him instead of Trump?

Never mind, don't answer that. I'd prefer that you not be forced to lie to me.

That's what he means by weaponized judicial system.

DeSantis just believe that this helps him more than it will ultimately help Trump. Like yall said, he's trusting his political instincts.

You replied to me about my constitution comment. So yes you were debating me.

LOL...and how many times did I reply to Evil? I also replied to ReRe...so was it about him or you?

Look, I'm sure you're pretty...and I'm not saying you aren't, but this time it wasn't about you princess.

We don't know and using hypothetical stuff doesn't help or will ever give a real and truthful answer.

I also believe if Bragg was a Republican, y'all would just say he's a RINO, who's trying to stop Trump.

There will always be a baked in excuse.

So this statement clarifies that you didn't understand what I was saying. I'll try to explain it this way.

When Bill Clinton debated what the word "is" meant, do you think I agreed with him?

I didn't ftr...but that was the debate. Same here...except the word was "valid" instead of "is."

I even plainly stated that the argument was thin. But that didn't seem to penetrate for you or even slow you down.

Even as a cop, it's ok if I have freedom of thought and expression so stop being a Karen.
