UF Men's Basketball Under Todd Golden

SEC Basketball Media Days

Have not been following Gator B'ball much lately.

Golden is NOT shy !
His comment about his first Gator's team got my attention -

“I think this team has the makings of an NCAA Tournament team, so that will be a simple barometer that we can use once we get to March to see if we’ve had a successful season or not,” Golden said last month.

"...New Florida men’s basketball coach Todd Golden makes his first trip to SEC Basketball Media Days on Wednesday with a pair of his players.

Dubbed “Tipoff ’23” by the league, the event is taking place this year at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. Women’s teams were up first on Tuesday, and the men’s teams will go Wednesday.

Golden will be joined by point guard Kyle Lofton and forward Colin Castleton, a preseason first-team All-SEC selection. SEC Network will provide with live coverage of the event, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.

“The most pleasant thing about it is we’ve asked a lot of these guys and they’ve been really, really receptive to the coaching, and so it should give us a chance to have a pretty good season.”

All Gators provides observations and notes from the UF hoops practice session on Tuesday 10-17-22. The new guys in Gainesville — whether that be from the transfer portal or the prep stage — are shining.

Note: The iG says that a TEAM is not made up of just the 8-9 rotation players, so play the entire roster whenever possible to get the best results, both in the short and the long terms....

==========

SG/SF Riley Kugel 6-5 207 Fr **** - Dr Phillips, Orlando, FL

In the early portion of his Gator practice career, Kugel's shown heightened capabilities for a true freshman. That comes in the form of his athleticism, shooting stroke and mental understanding of the game.

The CG/SF position is the deepest on the team.
It looks to the iG like there's 6-8 guys that could play the 1-2-3 if needed. Liberal use of the rotation, and play the HOT-HAND...

The more players you use in the rotation, the better the future teams will be, and that is also is a big aid to recruiting...
