Gators Gymnasts are 8-0, #4 in the nation, after defeating #5 LSU tonight at home 198.150 - 197.825. Their Sunday 1/16 match vs. Alabama was the 1st gymnastics match ever televised on network TV (ABC). Tonight's match was tied after 3 rotations, but Florida killed it in the floor exercise to end the match with a win. They are led by senior AA Trinity Thomas, consistent Grad student Megan Skaggs, senior specialists Nya Reed, Leah Clapper, Savannah Schoennerr and Alyssa Baumann and freshmen Lean Wong & Sloane Blakeley. This team has a chance to win a National Title, but they have a tough schedule left - @Kentucky, hosting Oklahoma, at Auburn and then in Raleigh, NC for the 3-way with NC State & Rutgers.

Pre-Season AAC favorite and #7 UF Lacrosse begins their season 2/12 at Noon on You Tube TV hosting Kennesaw State.

Defending National Champs and #1 UF Men's Tennis opened their season in mid-January in Texas, losing a 4-3 match at #5 TCU, then beating #3 Texas 4-3 in Austin. They have since beaten #14 UCF 7-0, Princeton 4-0 and FSU 4-1, and are playing in Seattle, WA next weekend for the National Indoor Championships.
Meanwhile, the surprising Women's Tennis team is 6-1 and ranked in the Top 20. They have beaten UNF 6-1, USF 7-0, FIU 4-1, #18 FSU 4-0, #17 Old Dominion 4-2, #24 FSU 4-1 before losing this morning to #7 Virginia 4-2 in the National Indoor Championships in Madison, WI. They play #12 Ohio State tomorrow morning in those championships.

UF Women's Tennis dropped their 2nd match in 2 days, losing a heartbreaker to #11 Ohio State 4-3 in the consolation bracket at the Indoor Nationals. Their record is now 6-2. Gators play another match tomorrow at the Nationals and then are off until 2/26 when they host Baylor.

UF Lacrosse won their opening match 22-7 over a Kennessaw State team who returned 9 of their 11 starters from last year's team. There are a lot of new faces on this year's Gator team, but their offensive efficiency was impressive. The Gators were led in scoring by freshman star Emma Lopinto's 6 goals and 2 assists. 11 other Gators scored as coach Amanda O'Leary pretty much emptied the bench during the latter part of the game. UF plays an exhibition game Tuesday against the Scottish National team before hosting #2 North Carolina next Saturday at noon. Today's game, the exhibition game and the UNC game are all televised on YouTube.

UF Women's Tennis finished their play at the Indoor Championships 1-2 after beating #16 Washington today 4-0, improving their record to 7-2.

UF Men's Tennis dropped their opening match at the Indoor National Championships, losing 4-3 to Texas, a team they had beaten 40-3 a couple of weeks ago. They face #7 Virginia tomorrow.

#2 Gator Gymnastics clinched at least a share of the SEC regular season championship tonight, beating #10 Kentucky in Lexington 197.575 - 197.350. They trailed most of the match, but pulled it out in their final rotation on the beam. This is UF's 14th SEC gymnastics title, 4th in a row under coach Jenny Rowland. AA Trinity Thomas won her 20th collegiate All Around title, scoring 39.70 in her 4 events.

#7 UF lacrosse dropped a 15-11 game to #2 North Carolina Saturday at noon. The Gators trailed most of the game, but cut the lead to 706 with 3 minutes left in the 1st half, but then allowed 2 quick goals before halftime, and could never recover. The statistics for the game were fairly even except for the goalkeeping, where the Gators were outplayed. Next game is next Saturday at Maryland.

#5 Men's Tennis finished 2-1 at the Indoor National Championships by beating Georgia 4-2 on Sunday to improve their record to 7-2 on the season. They open SEC play March 4 against South Carolina.

#3 UF Gymnastics beat #2 Oklahoma in Gainesville Friday night 198.100 - 197.750 in an incredible match of the highest quality. Trinity Thomas was excellent, winning the All Around with scores of 9.925 in the Vault, 9.950 on the Uneven Bars, 9.975 on the Beam and 10.0 on the Floor Exercise. If ya'll want to watch some tremendous athletes, watch high level D1 Women's Gymnastics.

Not to take anything away from the other girls on the team but Trinity Thomas reminds me of Grant Holloway the way she dominates the sport.

UF Lacrosse was soundly beaten by 3-0 #5 Maryland Saturday 18-8. They fell behind 7-1 in the 1st quarter, made a nice comeback to only trail 9-6 at the half, but then were dominated the 2nd half. This team is young, with talent, but the last 2 games have been against national powerhouses North Carolina & Maryland. Next up is Stony Brook at home next Saturday.

The #3 UF Gymnastics team clinched sole possession of 1st place in the SEC with a 198.575 - 198.575 tie with #6 and 2nd place Auburn at a high quality meet at Auburn. Either both team had exceptional performances by virtually all their athletes or the judges were unusually liberal in their scoring. In any event, the Gators ended the SEC season with no losses and a tie, Auburn with 1 loss and a tie. Congrats Gators!!

UF Men's Tennis blasted #6 South Carolina today 6-0 to run their record to 8-2. Meanwhile Women's tennis opened SEC play with a 6-1 win over LSU, improving their record to 8-2.

#4 Men's Tennis seems to be rounding into the shape they were in last year when they won the national title. Winning their 6th straight match against a Top 10 team, the Gators beat #1 ranked Tennessee in Knoxville Sunday 5-2. They won the doubles point, 6-4, 6-3, then lost the first completed singles match at #6, 5-7, 4-6. The Gators then won 3 straight singles matches to clinch the match, going up 4-1. Gator lacrosse played like a Top 10 team today, beating #3 Syracuse in Gainesville 14-10 to improve to 3-4 against a brutal pre-conference schedule. The Gator goalkeeper was fantastic with a .524 save percentage. UF jumped out to a 6-1 1st quarter lead and pretty much coasted to the win against an excellent team. Next up is Drexel in Philadelphia Sunday at 11 am.

Never thought I'd see the day where men's tennis was elite and women's tennis was not. Just goes to show.

UF Women's Tennis improved to 11-4, 3-2 in the SEC with a 6-1 win at Missouri this afternoon. Missouri was shorthanded for some reason and forfeited one of the 3 doubles matches and the #6 singles match. The Gators got the doubles point by winning with their #1 doubles team 6-0, leading at #2 4-0. They were awarded another point at #6 singles by forfeit. The first singles match completed was won by Missouri at #3 2-6, 2-6. The Gators then won at #1 singles 6-2, 6-2, at #2 singles 6-4, 6-1, at #4 singles 6-0, 6-2 and at #5 singles 6-0, 6-1 to complete the match.
Next up is at #36 Arkansas on Sunday at 2 pm.

#1 Men's Tennis won another SEC match fairly easily Friday, beating Ole Miss 6-1. They won the doubles point 6-3, 6-3, then won at #6, #5, then lost at #4 singles, all in straight sets. But they won in 3 sets at #1, #2 & #3 singles to provide the margin of victory. They're now 13-2, 5-0 in the SEC.

Gator gymnastics won the SEC tournament in Birmingham Saturday in fairly easy fashion. This title is in addition to their regular season championship. Florida scored 198.200, .150 above their season average to beat 2nd place Alabama's 197.825. Auburn was 3rd with a score of 197.225 and Missouri, the winner of the afternoon session, finished 4th at 196.875. 3 Gator gymnasts competed in all 4 events and all of their All-Around scores were better than any gymnast for any of the other 8 teams competing. Trinity Thomas won the All Around with a score of 39.825; Megan Skaggs Leann Wong both had 39.650. The #2 Gators now await the pairing for the NCAA Regionals that are held between March 30 & April 2. This is an excellent team of athletes who has a legitimate shot at a national title. Gooo Gators!!

Wait so we are good at all these other UF sports and compete for SEC championships but for some reason we can’t compete for championships in men’s basketball?? 😂

And yet, to some, that's OK in Men's BB as long as you're a good person, play above .500, make the post season and win a game every year.

#16 UF Women's Tennis won a very tight match Sunday at Arkansas, beating the Razorbacks 4-3. After losing the doubles point, the Gators won 3 of the 6 singles matches in straight sets and then Gator Marleen Zein came from behind to win her match at #3 singles 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the match for the Gators, who are now 12-4, 4-2 in the SEC. Gators next host Ole Miss 3/25.

Meanwhile, the #1 UF Men's Tennis team annihilated #28 Mississippi State in Gainesville 7-0 to improve to 14-2, 6-0 in the SEC. The Gators won the doubles point 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, then won 5 singles matches in straight sets, with only Josh Goodger at #5 singles going 3 sets, with UF winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Gators next play at Arkansas 3/25

#13 UF Lacrosse evened their season record at 4-4 with a close 10-9 win in Philadelphia over Drexel on Sunday. The Gators led at the half 8-1, but had to hold on for the win. UF next hosts Stetson on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.

#11 UF lacrosse improved to 5-4 today in the rain with a 19-5 beatdown of Stetson in Gainesville. They built a 12-2 halftime lead and coasted to the easy win. Next up is a match at Arizona State Sunday at 1 pm.

Ocala we should include swimming and track in this combined thread (although Swimming is coming to an end). Women swimmers finished 13th and NCAA. I think the men have an outside shot at the natty.
