Gator's are ranked #108 out of 131 teams in total defense as of this morning. Only Arkansas (#112) and Vanderbilt (#121) are worse in the SEC. We are tied with Buffalo at #113 in rushing defense, worst in the SEC, and #69 in passing defense. We are #127 in 3rd down conversion defense, giving up 1st downs 50% of the time on 3rd down. We are #27 in total offense, 5th in the SEC, behind #1 Tennessee, #4 Georgia, #5 Alabama and #25 Ole Miss. We are #57 in passing offense and #22 in rushing offense. We are 53rd in 3rd down conversions, picking them up 42% of the time. The Gators are #92 in kickoff return defense and #110 in kickoff return offense, averaging only 16.85 yards per return attempted. We are #91 in punt return defense and #109 in punt return offense, averaging only 4.80 on returns attempted. We are #94 in defensive sacks, averaging only 1.60 per game, and #105 in tackles for loss @ 4.6 per game. We are #7 in fewest sacks allowed, with only 3 allowed through 5 games. It's clear just from the sheer numbers that defense and special teams are a real problem, which I think everybody knows by now.
