Thoughts on CFP Teams

If USC wins and TCU loses this will be a really big argument. The good wins resume is about the same. OSU has the better loss but they were dominated in that Michigan game. TCU has a strong argument their only loss came in an extra 13th game that OSU didn't have to play and they beat that team previously. Hard to say what they do here. TCU would have even a stronger case if they were a conference champion in this scenario.

TCU: Good wins - (2) #10 Kansas State and #20 Texas
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (2) Oklahoma State and Texas Tech
Losses - (1) #10 Kansas State in a rematch * loss in an extra 13th game which OSU doesn't have to play

OSU:
Good wins - (2) #8 Penn State and #21 Notre Dame
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (2) Iowa and Maryland
Losses - (1) #2 Michigan by a wide margin

Some articles out there saying TCU shouldn't be out if they lose since OSU doesn't play in a championship game but in 2017 the committee let a 1 loss Bama get in without playing in one when an undefeated Wisconsin lost in the Big 10 Championship game and was dropped out of the top 4.
Also, OSU's blowout loss occurred in Columbus. Bama’s 2017 12 point loss was at Auburn. UGA, Michigan and TCU should be locks.

If the roles were reversed TCU would likely be safe but not 100% sure since its OSU we are talking about here.

You have a point. But USC has continued to improve as the season went along. The 1st match-up was in Salt Lake City and it was a 43-42 score in which USC had 12 penalties to Utah's 5, plus USC failed on two 4th down conversions and Utah converted 3 of 3. And Utah did lose to Florida!! Personally, I want TCU and USC to both win just to add fresh teams to the CFP AND to keep Ohio State and Alabama out.
This didn't age well. 😂

All hell would break loose if they chose Bama with that resume and 2 losses over TCU with a loss in the 13th game.

Bama isn't getting in over a 1 loss TCU with their wins resume.

First year without Bama or Clemson in the playoff.

Yes....good....let the hate flow through your veins.

I'm afraid that Bama will be quite operational by the time the committee meets.

Be damned K state wins with a FG
Heck yeah just what I needed. TCU got beat by a 9-3 team that had them down 18 points earlier in the year. TCU hasnt beaten anyone and would get run off the field by whomever they played if they made the top 4. Now the committee needs to smarten up and get OSU and Bama in the top 4 and LET'S GO!!!!!!!

And Bama's wins resume is worse than TCU. Who is Bama's best win - a 1 point win over Texas who lost by a TD to TCU?

Lol like they're going to get fired?

Bama does have the better resume. They didn't get stomped by the only good they played, unlike Ohio State.

No they don't as their only 2 decent wins are Texas who TCU beat by a TD and Miss State. Bama lost to the other CFP ranked teams they played. OSU beat Penn State which was higher than any team Bama beat and only had one loss.

Cause TCU is last year's Cinci and will get run off the field by whomever they play if they make the top 4. Bama lost both games on the road to ranked SEC teams on the last play of the game by a total of 4 points. Bama would run TCU and OSO off the field. Now Michigan and Georgia would be tougher games. But as long as Bama has Bryce Young then they have a strong chance of winning.

Then why didn't they beat Texas by a TD or more like TCU did? The committee in the past prioritized good wins more than looking at "good" losses and TCU's only loss is in OT in an extra 13th game.

TCU: Good wins - (2) #10 Kansas State and #20 Texas
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (2) Oklahoma State and Texas Tech
Losses - (1) #10 Kansas State in a rematch * loss in extra 13th game

Bama:
Good wins - (2) #20 Texas and #24 Miss State
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (1) Ole Miss
Losses - (2) #7 Tennessee and #14 LSU

OSU: Good wins - (2) #8 Penn State and #21 Notre Dame
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (2) Iowa and Maryland
Losses - (1) #2 Michigan

USC: Good wins - (3) #17 UCLA, #15 Oregon State and #21 Notre Dame
Other power 5 teams with winning records - (1) Washington State
Losses - (2) #14 Utah both times * 2nd loss in extra 13th game

If USC didn't lose so big I think they might have remained in front of Bama possibly.

It's okay, Alabama can't hurt you.

Just think these arguments for Bama to get in fall really flat and if it wasn't for the name you wouldn't be hearing them that much. I am curious what the committee does with the matchups though as they will shuffle the 4 for that if they have to. I guess the only game you wont see for sure in the opening round is GA-Michigan.

And just how does Notre Dame rate a number 21 ranking? They have three losses and one was at home to freaking Marshall thundering turd.

Put TCU in the SEC and how many losses do they have?

Pretty good article making cases for quite a few teams that should get the 3rd and 4th spots.

Its hard to say but LSU is getting pounded right now making that a worse loss now after LSU's A&M loss. Georgia probably pounds TCU if that is the matchup but not really sure how I think TCU would fare against someone like Michigan.

You REALLY don't think Alabama would beat TCU? This Alabama team is "down" but it's primarily due to discipline, which they haven't had much issue with since Saban took over.

Bama would roll TCU, OSU, and probably Michigan but that might be closer.

And they'd have practically a month to prepare for Georgia.

Ohio State had a weak schedule as per usual and beat no one.

Enjoy living in an area of unprecedented greatness because once it's over, it's over. It doesn't affect us anyway. In fact, them being the 4 seed and UGA being the 1 would be the best bet to prevent UGA having back-to-back titles.

Get your priorities straight.

If the committee actually wants the 4 best team in there and not have a debacle like last year with Cinci in there then you have to put Georgia, Michigan , OSU and Bama in there. Yes I know Tenn beat Bama but play that game 10 times again and Bama wins 8 of those. TCU will be a joke like Cinci was last year and Georgia will steam roll again to the title.

Bama didn't even roll Texas. This Bama team didn't look that good like past seasons. OSU beat Penn State who was better than anyone Bama beat. Texas and Miss State aren't wins that are that good and those are Bama's 2 biggest wins.

It doesnt matter, Bama equals MONEY and lot's of it. People want the 4 best teams in there and DAMNIT TCU isnt one of them. Put them in there like last years's Cinci and any of the other 3 will ROLL their ass.
