Note: Dumb-away is finally gone, and that's a good riddance imo.
The other 8 of the 'knucklehead 9' are on thin ice, but that's jmoho...
I wouldn't mind it if Scarlett also chose to sign with an agent.
Both of those upperclassmen have worn out my tolerance factor already.

Somewhat sorry for WR James Robinson's health situation. Oh well...
This does however, open some doors for other 2018 WR recruits.

GREAT RECRUITING NEWS --- :)

Florida/Mullen flipped a Mississippi State kicker commit.

On Sunday, Evan McPherson announced via Twitter that he de-committed from Mississippi State and was committing to Florida. The 6-foot, 165-pound Class of 2018 prospect from Fort Payne, Ala., is rated as a 3-star player by the 247Sports national composite.

247Sports rates McPherson as the No. 2 kicker for his class and the No. 44 player overall in Alabama. He made an official visit to Florida on Friday, before making official that he will follow Dan Mullen to Gainesville.

Always listed as a 'soft' commit, 3 star DB Nigel Bethel 5-10 158 de-commits.
Not a surprise, he was always a Shannon recruited guy from Miami NW.
He would likely be a better fit for the UCF level anyway, so good luck to him.

Mullen has so far retained 11 of Mc's UF commits.

Several have chosen to de-commit as is usual with a coaching change, but most have left the door open to a possible re-commit to UF.

And 2 new guys have committed, a UCLA/cow-Chip flip, and a MsSt flip.
OT Chris Bleich & K Evan McPherson.

I believe that new/old WR's coach Billy Gonzales is going to be happy with his group. :)

Dre Massey 5-9 186 4.35/40 rsSr (slot starter)

Tyrie Cleveland 6-2 205 Jr (primary starter)

Josh Hammond 6-1 187 Jr (needs Billy-G coaching)

Freddie Swain 6-0 194 Jr (needs Billy-G coaching)

Rick Wells 6-0 202 rsSo (IF he's reinstated, K-9)

Kafarius Toney 5-11 194 So (plays any skill position)

Daquon Green 6-1 195 rsFr (rs-chip on shoulder, he's ready to go)
------

WR/QB Tucker Nordman 6-1 190 rsJr (caught Toney's O&B TD pass)
WR Charles Nordman 6-0 194 rsJr (the twin brothers played QB--WR in HS)

Dan tends to recruit receivers who have the size to make plays on the exterior.

#86 Tyquan Thornton 6-3 170 **** - Miami, FL - Early Enrollee
#139 Corey Gammage 6-2 188 4.81/40 *** - Delray Beach, FL

#28 WR Tre Turner 6-4 170 **** - Greensboro, NC (VaTech)
#31 WR Warren Thompson 6-2 192 **** - Seffner, FL
#32 WR Dyami Brown 6-2 175 **** - Charlotte, NC (N.Carolina)
#34 WR Mark Pope 6-0 163 **** Miami, FL (Miami)

#4 WR JuCo Nero Nelson 6-0 175 **** - Wesson, MS (FAU)
#41 WR Marquez Ezzard 6-2 213 **** - Stockbridge, GA
And 6-8 more are listed with UF offers.

Any bets or W-a-G's on which WR's might eventually commit to UF?

HoF Ambassador Spurrier - Quotes on the recruiting trail...

“In 12 years at Florida, I don’t think we ever signed a kid from the state of Alabama. Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours.” :D

On Georgia winning every off-season:
“Why is it that during recruiting season they sign all the great players, but when it comes time to play the game we have all the great players? I don’t understand that. What happens to them?”

On being true to himself:
“All I can say is that I’m going to try to coach the way I’ve coached in the past. And if it ends up not being good enough, then so be it.”

On the value of education:“
We’ve got a support system that gives our players a wonderful opportunity to graduate. If they go to class and give good effort they can graduate from this school, and I believe that’s important when you go out recruiting.”

On swinging and missing on a recruit:
“It is embarrassing, and I apologize because this is a guy we recruited. When you recruit one and they are troublemakers, or appear to be, it makes you feel bad. So we have to do a better job of recruiting the right kind of kids. We’re going to mess up occasionally, like we did with this one guy.”

And oh BTW -- On why he lasted as long as he did:
“I forgot to get fired, and I’m not gonna cheat. That’s the way you lose your job: You get fired for losing, or you cheat.” (has Mullen ever been fired from a coaching job?) o_O

Recruiting needs by/on NSD:

3 WR's, 2 OL, 2 LB's, 1 CB (8).
With 12 slots still open they could add 4 more.

Mullen said that they might find a few other players that WANT to be Gators.... But he also said that they won't be taking guys 'just' to fill up the available slots.

A final 21 total class might be what happens. I won't worry one bit about how that might affect the class ranking by the outsiders. Find the right guys that 'fit the program,' or save the slots for next year. Outsider class rankings are for off season conversations, but not of any real importance.

Many questions to ask and positions to fill between now and NSD.

The Gator's new freshman Sprinter Sani Brown - 200M 20.32 ----- 100M 10.05

Why has Sani come to UF? How-bout to train and run for B-2-B NC Coach Mike Holloway.
"I came up with some good results at the world championships, but they are not what I can be satisfied with," he told The Japan Times. "I would like to keep working hard taking advantage of these experiences for next year and the Olympics." --- Note: He broke Usain Bolt's meet record in the 200M to establish himself as one of the world's top up-and-coming sprinters.

The question for WR Anthony Schwartz is; do ya wanna train and compete with this guy on a daily basis, or is he just to much for ya??? o_O

??? I wonder if anyone has asked Sani if he's at all interested in playing WR for the Gators?
And how wild would it be to have both Sani-B and Tony-S as the 1-2 Sprinters for the Gators??? :D

Dear Coach Mullen, don't you dare pull an A-hole Urban by telling Schwartz that he can't do both at UF...

http://floridagators.com/news/2017/12/27/scott-carter-a-long-trip-to-catch-up-to-Sani-Brown.aspx

Yet another recruit has decided to give UF an official visit on Feb 2nd.
AU commit #14 DT Coynis Miller 6-2 291, is a 4-star UA-AA from Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham, Ala. It looks to me like Feb 2nd might just turn out to be a 2nd consecutive banner finish for Gator recruiting.
The Gator's closed out BIG last season on NSD, so a repeat on that finish would be SWEET! :)

That day (Feb 2nd) is going to be LAY-O-DED with top quality recruits coming in to decide where they want to learn and play (student/athlete) while in college. The smarter ones will likely choose a UF Degree, along with a very solid shot at getting to the NFL afterwards, so we'll see....
-----------------

On another important position taking part in the UA-AA game, GREAT NEWS!
UF signee K Evan McPherson tied for 1st place in the kicking competition Tuesday, making all 7 FG attempts and connecting on a 55-yarder. -- Evan - Evan - Evan :D

Just like always, we won't KNOW until LOI's on NSD, but the coming class is LOO-KING-GUD to me, with a very strong finish being very possible.

By the new ESD (early signing day) the Gators had 15 Commits during the coaching transition.

13 of those 15 became Gators on ESD.
8 of those 13 early signers are also EE's (early enrollees).

QB-DT Emory Jones ****
RB Dameon Pierce ****
Ath Iverson Clement **** (RB/WR/FS/KR)
OT Noah Banks *** JuCo
OT Chris Bleich ***
(both OL'men are borderline 4 stars -- Ivey returs for his Sr season)
-----
SS/OLB Amari Burney **** (kinda like a Kylan Johnson SS/OLB)
DB Trey Dean ****
DB Randy Russell ***

All 8 EE's are at critical need positions, so they're a HUGE help for the team.

Update before recruiting opens back up this Friday.

What the Gator's already have signed on ESD (14+2 xfers):
4 DB's - 1 OLB - 1 K
1 QB - 2 RB's - 2 TE's - 2 OL, 1 pending
Plus 2 xfer WR's, 1 already eligible
14 + 2. are already on the roster with 8+2 of them EE's.

QB-DT Emory Jones
SS/OLB Amari Burney
CB/FS Trey Dean
S/CB Randy Russell
FS/CB John Huggins
RB Dameon Pierce
Ath/RB Iverson Clement
OLB David Reese
TE Kyle Pitts
TE/DE Dante Lang
OT Noah Banks
OT Chris Bleich
K Evan McPherson
OT Richard Gouraige (committed by not yet signed)
-----
WR Van Jefferson 6-2 181 (Ms xfer in - granted 2018 eligibility)

WR Trevon Grimes 6-4 202 (tOSU xfer in - 2018 eligibility unknown)

=========

What I think the Gator's still need in the coming class:

2-3 OL - 1-2 DL - 1-2 OLB's - 1-2 CB's - 2-3 WR's
So 7 to 12 additional recruits, added to the 14 already signed, and the 1 pending commit.
There are at least 9 open slots in this class for now.
===========

Possibilities at WR include:

WR/RB Jacob Copeland 6-0 192

WR Tommy Bush 6-4 190

WR Justyn Ross 6-4 198

WR/RB/KR Jalen Preston 6-2 208

WR/RB/CB Justin Watkins 6-0 165
Better than Schwartz imo.

-----
WR/Sprinter Anthony Schwartz 6-0 172 (AU commit)

Blinding speed, but I'm not that impressed with his WR skills. John Capel???
With BillyG here, I'd still take him for development purposes, or as a deep decoy.

3 Star WR Gammage (Delray Bch.) de-commits after reopening his recruiting. That's probably a good decision for him. Every ship Gator WR on the roster, and every WR that they are currently recruiting, are all 4 Stars. So while Corey might have played at UF, he'll likely stand a better chance of playing if he goes elsewhere. So good luck to Corey, wherever he ends up playing
---------

Of course none of these guys count towards the Gator's 2018 class ranking, but I still count them as Mullen recruits for the 2018 team: DE CeCe - LT/LG Ivey - WR Grimes xfer - WR Jefferson xfer.
-----
The 2016 TX xfer OL Jean Delance 6-5 314 rsSo is eligible, (UA-AA).

While another of the knucklehead-9's decides to go elsewhere, (harsh maybe, but good radiance imo).
OT Kadeem Telfort **** - not offered differed by the prosecutor with multiple felony charges pending.
DE Jordan Smith *** - The other not differed, so I expect the same from him in the near future.

That makes 5 Stars DE CeCe and LT/LG Martez choosing to stay for their Sr seasons even bigger!

Admittedly being star struck and into team recruiting rankings, it would be interesting to see the actual value of all those who will be new to the team in addition to those in the published team rankings.

The Gator's end the week by losing 2 safeties.

Marcell Harris rsSr decided to go on to the NFL after recovering from a 2017 Achilles tear.
Randy Russell's Fr EE incoming physical detected a heart problem that ends his athletic career.

Can't blame Marcell,,, and darn, what a tough turn of events for Randy.
Here's to wishing good luck to both of them in their uncertain futures.

Now, back on the recruiting trail for the coaching staff.

Only one day later my prediction comes to fruition...

Redshirt freshman DE Jordan Smith, one of nine (K-9) Florida football players facing felony fraud charges for allegedly transferring money from a stolen credit card in order to use the money to buy electronics, tweeted out Thursday afternoon that he has decided to transfer from Florida.

Smith was one of two players - OT Kadeem Telfort being the other - who weren't offered a pre-trial diversionary program because of the number or severity of their transactions.

One of the remaining six players, WR Antonio Callaway, has declared for early entry to the NFL Draft. (RB Scarlett should join him imo)

That leaves 6 players whose future is still up in the air.

* RB Jordan Scarlett
* WR Rick Wells
* DL Keivonnis Davis (who is also recovering from an auto accident)
*
DL/OL Richerd Desir-Jones
* LB Ventrell Miller
* LB James Houston

JMOHO, but the school/coach should decide on those 6 before NSD so that they can recruit accordingly...

The 2 very different sides of the Gator's football recruiting coin:

SS Marcell Harris rsJr - A GREAT student/athlete that will be missed.
WR Antonio Callaway rsJr. - A total embarrassment, so good radiance!

DT Taven Bryan rsJr - A GREAT student/athlete that will be missed.
DE Jordan Smith rsFr - A never played embarrassment, so good riddance!

LT Martez Ivey Jr - A GREAT loyal student/athlete returns for his Sr season.
OT Kadeem Telfort Fr - A never played embarrassment, so good riddance!

That student/athlete coin (choices) will always be out there waiting.
It's up to each individual adult citizen to 'CHOOSE' which side of that coin that he wants to end up on. o_O

On the Run up to NSD - Dan Mullen
“What we’re doing is finding guys that we think fit our program, both with their character, their work ethic and their talent. So if you check those boxes and we have the position need, we’re not going to hold back. But we’re not going to fill spots just to fill a spot. … We’re going to go find guys that we feel are going to help us take the program to the championship level.”

So I'm hoping that Dan can make mostly better recruiting choices....
It's too bad the recruiting services don't bother to give out 'character' rating stars....

PS - just for the circle of jerks.
Have any of the Gator Eagle Scouts ever been dismissed from the team, or even suspended?
4-5 Recruiting Stars, along with a full season suspension, equals a total loser imoho....

Out of the original Knucklehead Nine, only Scarlett & Houston have announced they are staying at UF. And least that's what I read somewhere this past week. They just have to get cleared by the school disciplinary board. Smith and Telfort were never going to play for us again and will be lucky to avoid jail time IMO. Haven't heard or read about decisions from Miller, Wells, Davis & Desir-Jones. Callaway has left school and is going to try to get drafted.

ocala, the only one's that I'd keep on the team (maybe), would be the true freshmen, and only then if they were truly sorry and pledged to be near perfect for the rest of their time at UF. And they would be on a 2 inch leash from now on, IF it was me...o_O
(I'd recommend a xfer for all of the K-9's, for a fresh start elsewhere)

Any upperclassmen involved in felony fraud, especially if this was not their 1st bit of trouble at UF, would be off the team at the very least. o_O

While crucifying nor hanging is appropriate imo, --- neither is looking the other way and saying 'oh well, boyz will be boyz'....

2018
* RB Jordan Scarlett rsJr (mulitple screw-ups)
* DL Keivonnis Davis rsJr (also recovering from an auto accident)
*
DL/OL Richerd Desir-Jones rsJr (not his 1st screw-up)
* WR Rick Wells rsSo (not his 1st screw-up suspension)

The only one's that I'd even consider keeping are these 2 Fr:

* LB Ventrell Miller rsFr
* LB James Houston rsFr
And one of those 2 sounded less than contrite about his actions...

The only one's that I'd even consider keeping are these 2 Fr:

* LB Ventrell Miller rsFr
* LB James Houston rsFr
And one of those 2 sounded less than contrite about his actions...
Yeah, I have very little patience for criminal activity of any kind and once an athlete has been given a 2nd chance I'm not in favor of any more. But I have a feeling that with a new coaching staff that if any of these guys wants to come back and passes a meeting with Mullen & the AD, then convinces the disciplinary board of their regret, they'll be allowed to stay. I just don't want them to poison the rest of the team with attitude problems- a little yeast leavens the whole ball of dough.

I wonder why RB Jordan Scarlett would want to stay at UF? It's not like he's going to be the 2018 starter, or even get much (if any imo) playing time...

RB Jordan Scarlett 5-11 206 rsJr (suspended all of 2017)
Rushing - 213 for 1,070 yds, 5.0 ypc, 7 TD's, L-60 Yds.
Receiving - 5 for 24 Yds, 4.8 yds/rec, 0 TD's, L-13 Yds.

RB Lamical Perine 5-11 218 Jr
Rushing - 227 for 1009 yds, 4.4 ypc, 9 TD's, L-59 Yds
Receiving - 19 for 242 yds, 12.7 yds/rec, 2 TD, L-32 Yds

RB Malik Davis 5-11 194 So (7 Gms, then ACL)
Rushing - 79 for 534 yds, 6.7 ypc, 2 TD's, L-72 Yds.
Receiving - 7 for 58 yds, 8.3 yds/rec, 0 TD's, L-20 Yds
~ He was pacing Fred Taylors Fr season numbers before the ACL.

RB Adarius Lemons 6-0 201 So (5 Gms ST's, plus 4 Gms @ RB)
Rushing - 19 for 139 yds, 7.2 ypc, 0 TD's, L-22 Yds.
Receiving - 1 for 7 yds.

Ath Kadarius Toney 5-11 194 So (8 Gms of part time or backup)
Rushing - 14 for 121 yds, 8.6 ypc, 1 TD, L-36 Yds
Receiving - 15 for 152 yds, 10.1 yds/rec, 0 TD's, L-23 Yds.

Toney, Lemons, and Davis played in 2017 all with a better YPC average.
Perine, Toney, and Davis have already proven to be better receivers.
And NONE of those 4 that played have been in any trouble while at UF.

In 2018, Scarlett wouldn't play for me ahead of any of those 4 guys, even if he'd never been in any trouble. (he's already a 3X loser) o_O

Now add in these 2 incoming FNG's:

RB Dameon Pierce 5-11 210
Sr Rushing - 227 for 2,123 yds, 9.4 ypc, 32 TD's, L-69 Yds.
Sr Receiving - 4 for 124 yds, 31.0 yds/rec, 1 TD, L-74 Yds.
He only had 6 fumbles in 4 years, 3 were LPF's.

Ath Iverson Clement 5-11 196 (RB/WR/FS/KR)
Sr Rushing - 199 for 1,419 yds, 7.1 ypc, 13 TD's, L-71 Yds.
Sr Receiving - 10 for 128 yds, 12.8 yds/rec, 2 TD's, L-35 Yds.
He only had 6 fumbles in 3 years, only 1 was a LPF.

Jordan Scarlett has now been relegated to #7 on my RB depth chart....

He’s a redshirt Junior. If he transferred he’d literally have no eligibility unless he somehow got a waiver.

Funny that you claim to be intelligent.

Why would a 4-7 team need as many good players as they could find? That's madness! Kick him off the team and lock him up!

Let me check in on the 2 ignored twits that have just popped up here to run their mouths....

Did rsJr Dumbaway xfer to another school, you clueless, stalking, village idiot?

There once was a goater named dunny,
who was always trying to be funny.
But with his head up his butt,
and a load of beer in his gutt,
when it came to the girls he got nunny...
=====

When a student/athlete has already had 3 or more negative incidents, he needs to be gone imo. Of course, the neo-fascist BLM types (spouting racist rules for white people) would always disagree with that kind of reasonable outcome for repeat offenders...

The ONLY positive that I can see for 4X-LOSER Dumbaway, was that he at least knew that it was time for him to go, after HE had burned his ship with HIS OWN bad (felony criminal) choices... o_O

You're so dumb. Yes if anyone disagrees with you and instead agrees with Mullen and the university's decision to allow them back on the team then they must be a 'BLM Type' whatever that's supposed to mean. After all you have all the facts, what the hell would they know? Your mulatto nieces and nephews must really love you.

I'm dumb, but you know everything about anything, and your own positions (just in certain areas of course) never seems to change...

Okay genius, now give me a link to anything that says that HC Mullen, or AD Stricklin, or the UF Student Council, has already cleared any of the K-9's to return to playing status with the team... o_O

As the usual jerks, circle up to continue with their village idiot claims...

PS

And I'm still waiting for an answer to my question concerning Eagle Scouts.
Has a Gator Eagle Scout ever been dismissed from the team, or even susupended??? (the crickets reign supreme)

Dude has been hell bent against Scarlett since he arrived on campus. Always insisted Mark Thompson was better...lol.

I believe Scarlett will be back and believe he will likely contribute quite a bit, especially with Davis out

(Better??? non-felon vs 3x Loser, Felon, Suspended all of 2017)

RB Jordan Scarlett 5-11 206 Jr (suspended all of 2017)
Rushing - 213 for 1,070 yds, 5.0 ypc, 7 TD's, L-60 Yds.
Receiving - 5 for 24 Yds, 4.8 yds/rec, 0 TD's, L-13 Yds.

RB Mark Thompson 6-2 239 rsSr - a JuCo, had to earn his way to UF.
Rushing - 126 for 596 yds, 4.7 ypc, 5 TD's, L 36 Yds.
Receiving - 16 for 184 Yds, 11.5 yds/rec, 1 TD, L-85 Yds
Plus 1 KR for 21 Yds.
~ He caught a short pass and took it 85-yards for a TD in the Outback Bowl vs Iowa.
It was the 2nd-longest passing play in UF bowl history…
Scarlett's receiving is a joke, much like your own beliefs...

First off, Davis will likely be back at some point in 2018. But even if he's not, you acting like Davis is the only RB option other than Scarlett shows the level of dishonesty and/or lack of knowledge that I've come to expect from a lyin' dumbazz like you...

Pierce is already bigger/stronger/faster and he has a 31 Yds/Rec Ave.
Clement is already a better all around athlete than Scarlett will ever be.

Thompson fumbled the ball ALL the time. He's a hard runner but to many mistakes.

Do Tell....

Please list the total fumbles and the LPF by both Thompson and Scarlett.

And do you consider a felony full year suspension a personal fumble mistake?

A new W-O add to the 2018 class.

LS Marco Ortiz 6-5 230 Fr - Richmond, VA
A Rubio 5 Star W-O (247 3 Star)

LS Ryan Farr 6-1 221 Jr - also a Rubio 5 Star W-O (247 3 Star)
2018 is Ryan's Sr season, so a new Rubio LS is nice to have.

Recruiting matters as far as the roster that plays in the fall.
Class rankings or an individual's stars are just the opinions of others that don't really matter to the bigger picture. They are just something else to talk about in the off-season.

Ole head-nailed-to-da-flor is the annual off season dust-bowl mouth runner,,,, that disappears on NSD with it counts, just like his little Mad-Dog-dollie butt-buddy.

Speaking of when it counts:
UF 24 - 14 Choke-la-homo :p
