Got an invite to the UA-AA game. Pretty good for just a 3-star....
~ Smith landed an invite to the UA-AA Game after the recent Orlando UA camp. The speedy all purpose back worked primarily out of the slot during 1-on-1s and was able to shake DB after DB which resulted in what would have been large gains. Smith, who scored 15 touchdowns on 30 touches as a junior, committed to Florida back in January. LSU and Alabama remain in contact.

Under the Old and the New....

There is no flight plan or pattern. When the 'human joystick' lights up, producing those crazy cuts and cutbacks, those dizzying reversals back and forth across the field, they’re coming naturally and instinctively.

Sometimes Florida WR/RB Kadarius Toney even stuns himself with some of his myriad manic move combinations. -- Take the play he made against Florida State last November. After taking a little scoop pass from QB Kyle Trask in the backfield, he appeared hemmed in by two defenders on the edge. But he made one of those ankle-breaking cuts of his that not only made the two defenders miss, it made them collide, injuring one. From there, Toney went into full joystick mode, cutting back, darting around defenders, making others miss before he was finally brought down after a 47-yard gain that started off looking like a 5-yard loss.


Recruiting summary: On the Gators latest recruit commit.

TE-Y Nick Elksnis 6-foot-6 220 out of Episcopal School Jacksonville, Fla., He committed to the Gators just 6 days after de-committing from PSU. He had been committed to the Nittany Lions for just over 7 months before reopening his recruitment on March 1. He holds 23 reported offers overall. His primary recruiter at Florida was TE's coach Tim Brewster. He is the 14th commitment for the Gators in the 2021 recruiting cycle. --- In 11 games as a junior, he hauled in 36 for 665 yds, 18.5 yds/rec, 7 TD's on offense while recording 38 tkl's, 5.5 sacks, 3 PBU's and a safety on defense. At the 2019 'Opening' Regional in Orlando last spring, he posted a 4.86 40-yard dash, a 4.72 short shuttle, a 30.8-inch vertical and a 37.5-foot Power Ball throw, giving him a SPARQ rating of 81.69.

Marshall isn't in a rush to decide, but he's been to UF more than any other school and was just on campus earlier this month with family. -- The iG says to come to DB-U.

DT Leonard Taylor 6-4 255 ***** - Miami -- 60% UF -- 40% Mia
The Gators have hosted Taylor on campus many times over the course of the last year, and he's very close with many members of the coaching staff. Taylor was just at UF earlier this month for a Junior Day and he was able to bring his family for the first time.

S Ahmari Harvey 5-10.5 171 - Tallahassee -- 78% UF -- 22% FSU
Florida was the clear leader till March, but now FSU is attempting to filp his UF lean. Now his recruitment seems like a back and forth tennis match between the in-state rivals.

WDE Bryce Langston 6-2.5 250 **** - Ocala -- 100% UF
(a previous commit, then de-commit)
Langston's last of many visits to UF was earlier this month. LSU seems to be UF's biggest competition and they likely will get an official visit from him down the road.

WR Marcus Burke 6-3 180 **** - Jacksonville -- 100% UF
After a visit to UF earlier this month, Burke left Gainesville saying the Gators were the team to beat in his recruitment. Burke has stated that a commitment may not be too far off in the future.

DT Desmond Watson 6-5 315 *** - Seffner, FL -- 100% UF
He's been to Gainesville twice already this year and many times before that. Watson lists other schools in play, but he's got the best connection with UF's staff and has visited The Swamp more than anywhere else.

Just to keep a toe in the 2021 recruiting waters....

Florida has been gathering recruiting momentum steadily each year of Dan Mullen’s tenure, and the Gators already hold seven in-state commitments. Florida is also among the leaders for five-stars DT Leonard Taylor and CB Jason Marshall as well as four-star RB Lovasea Carroll and DE Bryce Langston (a former UF commit). Gainesville was the most recent visit for Taylor and Marshall, who are teammates at Miami Palmetto High School. At this point, there’s no telling when they’ll see another program.

They also had 4 more that signed UDFA contracts.
~ That included 3 drafted WR's and 1 FA WR that all left UF with their degrees.

None of those 11 with NFL contracts were 5 star rated by the amateurs that dish out the rating stars, while several of them were 3 stars.
That's the difference that quality coaching can achieve for a dedicated recruit.

While UF has 7 that are 4+ stars, and 6 that are 3-stars (13).

Meanwhile, the lyin' Riley coyote Choker has now dropped all the way down to #43...
They are now sitting at #8 in the Big12-whatever conf. and behind both Kan. schools.

RB-U - Every UF starting RB since before Emmitt Smith has gone on to the NFL.
Alabama HS 3-star RB Perine was just taken in the 4th Rnd by the Jets.

And now adding Pass-Rush-U to the Gator's resume' ?
The Gators have had long term success on the defensive line, and they lead the SEC in sacks last season - Both 3-star rated DE's were drafted, plus a 3-star W.Va xfer DT was taken as a FA..
Go to UF and you don't have to be a 4-5-star to learn your trade and get hired by the NFL.

Birmingham (Ala.) Ramsay #16 DT Tim Keenan 6-2 340 announced his Top schools and UF was in the group. The Gators were able to get the four-star defender on their campus for the first time back in March for a Junior Day visit.

"I like the coaching and it's Pass Rush U down here at Florida. Even being an interior guy I like the pass rusher skills and I think I can get developed here."
While he's still probably a UA lean, he wouldn't be the 1st recruit from Ala. to choose the Gators...

Don't think there is any reason to worry to much about loosing one guy before the early signing period 8 months away. We'll be just fine.

Both still list UF in their 'options' group, and neither have committed elsewhere.

To me, that's saying that he's still at least a UF lean that wants to get some extra 'luv' from other schools recruiting programs while he still can. Early recruits sometimes do this. So while this does mean that others will have a chance to wine & dine him, it's okay wid-me.

In the end, I still 'only want the recruits that WANT to be Gators.'

It's an important thing...have to have guys that either want to be there or believe in the program. Otherwise they will transfer...thing is we have one the best group of coaches in the country. I think that we'll have another big year...maybe win the SEC. I'm expecting some big things...IMO we have the pieces.

#14 ranked S Kamar Wilcoxson 6-2 185 **** - IMG Academy in Florida gave a commit to the tennis-sea rubber dollies. He’s the 266th ranked player in the 2021 cycle (247).

Wilcoxson is no stranger to commitment announcements. He’s committed before — twice to the Florida Gators. He’s also de-committed twice — from the Florida Gators.

On Monday, John Herron, Florida’s assistant director of player personnel, asked on Twitter if that was Wilcoxson’s final answer, complete with a picture of Regis Philbin.
