Two issues:

1. You are basically telling everyone that “we know we have a problem but we aren’t changing”. Never heard Bama “assure” Saban

2. As it appears some are going to pull donations, risky move when you will have to outbid tOSU, Miami and others for DJ, let alone try to actually put talent around him

I just can’t🤣🤣🤣

Just getting ready to post that.

I'm fine with it for now. They do play hard. I guess I'm not focused on joining the elite right now......I just want to get back to routine winning records.

Ok, Ocala makes a post yesterday citing to a GatorCounty Article stating that Stricklin “needs” to clarify his intent.

Now people have a problem with Stricklin clarifying it. He can’t win.

And oh by the way, sadgator has been saying this since like week one…

(Pat self on back)….he was never going to get fired.

We're ranked close to 60th in recruiting. It's only getting worse.

Yeah, unfortunately it is going to have to get real bad. Nebraska did this with Scott Frost, he made it until game 3 the next year.

But in typical UF fashion, instead of being the premier opening, we’ll wait until next year when FSU, Auburn, USCw and possibly Michigan are all open🤣🤣🤣

Maybe Billy hopes he can keep Lagway next year and DJ will save the recruiting class

How can a 60th ranked recruiting class be saved with a possible 4-8 record? No 4 star will want to come here, NIL or not.

If it's any consolation, at least Sling Blades buyout will be less. Another thing, where does it say Stricknine states Sling Blade coaching at UF beyond 2024?

This is true. We always seem to fire our coaches when the market sucks.

Never thought I would see the day that 3 straight losing seasons at UF was acceptable.
It’s not that it’s acceptable. It’s that there are no alternatives that make sense. Mullen has said this himself. You have to stop the revolving door. sadgator agrees that if you are a good coach, you can turn a program quick. We have seen it. Napier hasn’t done that, but there are some signs of hope.

But at this point, we are on a track for Nebraska level failure if we don’t inject some stability into the program. Switching to ANOTHER “up and coming” risk of a coach isn’t going to guarantee us anything. It’s all but certain they would make another “who?” hire, which gets us nowhere. And sadgator has said it a million times, there is no scenario whatsoever…EVER…that Florida would hire Lane Kiffin as its head coach…that is never happening….so we might as well support this guy and be as positive as we can. Anything else is just hurting the thing we are desperate to see succeed.

Here are the reasons given to keep Napier:

1. We play hard
2. We beat Kentucky
3. We “almost” beat UGa (lost by 14)
4. Look what DJ did Sat (2/6 for 47 yds in a half)

My hope is that IF we lose big in Austin that Lane runs UGa out of Oxford hanging 50 on them. One, dispelling the myth UGa is good and just showing how utterly incompetent the University is. You can keep Billy to “stop the revolving door” but DJ or not, you are never competing for a title as long as he is the coach.

Yeah I tend to agree with Sad. There’s no Urban Meyer out there to come in and turn this thing around on a dime and even if there were, they’re probably not coming to UF in its current state. Zook’s players couldn’t all free transfer out when Meyer came in.

So I don’t think it’s crazy to try to stabilize the program some and see what Napier can do with a full season of Lagway (presuming we can keep him with a big chunk of that $10m we had set aside for CBN’s buyout).

Question is can he stabilize it, or are we already in an unrecoverable death spiral? Think we need a recruiting class in the 30s at least and we can give it a go next season.

Problem is, they tried that with Muschamp. Coaches have a philosophy and like to stick to it. Other than Saban, I have never seen a coach hire an OC that is opposite their own philosophy.
Clearly they're committed to keeping him. (Maybe) If he has any self-awareness whatsoever, he'll ditch the status quo.

Sling Blade just happens to be worse than Butch Jones. Jones at least gave their fans delusional hope after the 2016 season.

That's really just not the point. Ron Zook was a great recruiter and an enthusiastic guy. But he was way over his skiis at UF. His players played hard. He just wasn't a head coach at this level. Soldiers are only as good as their generals. When the soldiers give up on their generals, the war is lost. And that is eventually going to happen. And for that matter, UF has too many damned officers that aren't doing jack...........like the cleat problem in Jacksonville.

Who ya gonna get? There are VERY few sure bets and most wouldn't be available for a reasonable price. Everyone else is a roll of the dice. I'm not looking forward to starting over with another unknown quantity.

Zook is a good comparison. I kept thinking "well, we're getting just a little bit better" until we lost to Miss St....then it was time. Funny thing is, he had winning records and we thought that was unacceptable.

I think we can outbid Ole Piss don't you? I think Laney might have grown up. It's not 2008 anymore.

When a guy has three straight losing seasons to start his career at UF, “who ya gonna get” isn’t really an argument. There are many coaches who can put together one winning season in 3 years.

Maybe we can get Muschamp, McElwain or Mullen back.

Longer than Urban Meyer. So take that! 😂
If my math is right, Kiffin's longest were Ole Miss (5) and USC (4).

Urban's were us (6) and Ohio St (7).

But, I'm not really dissing Kiffin. He'd be interesting....at least for a while.

Mullen "was". But his ego was the death of him here. If you are going to double down on ego, you'd better be Steve Spurrier or Nick Saban on the gridiron.
Mullen gave up when he was made to fire Grantham....in addition to being a mediocre recruiter.

I think the draw to Kiffin is simply he has SEC experience and, he brings offense. If he can get Jaxon Dart a 500 yd game, let me see him with DJ for two years. If nothing else, UG needs explosive offense back.
