RHP Kelly Barnhill took home the 2017 ESPY for Best Female Collegiate Athlete.
T
he Marietta, Ga. native is the first player in UF program history to receive an ESPY award.
<> Sorry, but that's INCORRECT!

However, Kelly Branhill might be the 1st Lady Gator to win an ESPY?
No. Well then, how about the 1st Gator Softball player to win an ESPY?
No Again! 2015 RHP Lauren Haeger won an ESPY for 'Best Championship Performance.' Lauren was also a 2015 finalist for Best Female College Athlete.

Thursday, July 17th, 2008 - Quarterback Tim Tebow (Jacksonville, Fla. took home the ESPY Award for Best Male College Athlete on Wednesday night at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Tebow edged out basketball players Tyler Hansbrough of University of North Carolina and Michael Beasley of Kansas State. No arm, can't pass accurately, can't read a defense Tebow,,, but he still set a UF school record with 203 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, just one of his 28 UF records.

But Tebow was also not the 1st UF ESPY -- Tebow is the second Florida football player to take home an ESPY as former UF quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel was chosen as the Best Male College Football Player in 1997. (Peyttie-pie cried yet again) :D

Good post Insta. The article(s) that I've read on this are a little misleading and can lead one to think Barnhill was the first UF athlete to win as ESPY. But I think when they said "in program" history they were talking about the softball program. And that, I believe, is technically correct. Lauren Hager did not win a 2015 ESPY for best championship performance. Lebron James won. She was a finalist, just like she was a finalist for best female college athlete, but she won neither award. http://6abc.com/sports/2015-espy-awards-nominees-and-winners/854111/

You are correct about Wuerffell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_College_Football_Player_ESPY_Award and in regards to Tebow, he actually won the ESPY for Best Male College Athlete in 2008 & 2009. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Male_College_Athlete_ESPY_Award

nailed-head, the Gator's have won NC's in 14 of their 21 sports, 67%, including 3 more NC's this year in just 36 days.

How many sports have your chokers won NC's in, in their long and storied history?

And UF has won a NC in Football, Basketball, and Baseball in the last 10 years. How about your chokers?

(I believe that I can hear the crickets gathering yet again, or maybe since it's choke-la-homo, it's actually a locust swarm)
