Per the October 2013 issue:

1. West Virginia University

2. University of Wisconsin

3. University of Colorado

4. USCw

5. FSU: "Ahh, the joys of college in a tropical climate. Let us count the ways: bikinis, beaches and students as hot as the weather. Tallahassee has one of the largest fraternity systems in the country and with Alabama and Georgia within driving distance, mingling with other Southern belles is an option. What's more, Florida State isn't nearly as academically rigorous as the University of Florida. Translation: more time to drink."

6.University of Texas

7. LSU

8. UGA

9. Arizona State University

10 University of Maryland

How is LSU not on the top of that list every year?

They live in Baton Rouge and are like an hour from New Orleans.

More selective
≠academically rigorous.

The worst thing that Machen did to UF was make it possible for FSU to get Eric Barron, who has been terrific. Since he's taken over, the school's rankings, reputation and faculty satisfaction rates have been climbing, and he has barely even gotten started. This compares favorably to the Leonid Brezhnev-style era of stagnation that has gripped UF for the past decade.

"Up 13: Brigham Young University-Provo (to 62); Florida State University (to 91); and University of South Florida (to 170)."

University of Michigan's Mary Sue Coleman ranks #2 with a 97% approval rating, followed by Notre Dame's Rev. John I. Jenkins and University of Southern California's C. L. Max Nikias in a tie for third with 96% approval ratings, respectively."
