A few years ago there were several articles about big banks and maybe even Disney firing their American IT workers and hiring H1-B visas. One of those explained how the current workers had to train their replacements or they would loose their severance packages. Bottom line was that these were not critical jobs that Americans were not qualified for. They were used to lower cost and depress wages.
I am all for H1B visas if there is someone who is a specialist. But I also think that the law should require that the pay be 10% higher than the average salary at a minimum.
Why? Because that prevents wages from going down which is what most of the H1B visa scams are about in the first place. You really need someone then you will pay for the need.
