MAGA

#16 was also on record for wanting to send the slaves back to Africa. Plus, he invaded Minnesota and was responsible for the death of many Native Americans. He's got some skeletons.

Let's talk reparations for a minute. Dems have always wanted to give blacks TODAY reparations for the country having slaves in the 1800s. (History lesson for @bradleygator, the reason why the dems in New Jerseystan were against slavery was because it gave an economic advantage to the South. The North used slavery extensively up till the 1850s or so. Once they figured out that much of the climate and soil in the North wasn't suitable for farming as it was in the South, they decided that the entire country needed to stop using slaves).

But let's say you are a black man from Africa, who is bought as a slave in 1860 by a dem in the United States. A few years later, you would have been freed, and every one of your descendants would have been born in the US as a free person.

On the other hand, if that same black man had stayed a slave in Africa, he would have likely died in Africa as a slave. And every one of his descendents likely would have been born in Africa, and many into slavery.

How do you make the case that those descendents are owed reparations for growing up free in the United States, versus possibly being a slave in Africa?

See what I mean? Such a slanted version of history.

They should not get a penny until they pay descendants of Hebrew slaves reparations from Africa.

Not OTB but several others I post on. I don’t ever recall a civil war thread OTB. Here’s a snippet.

Lincoln actually was a flaming racist who wanted to deport all Black people. He was head of the American colonization society and twice got Congress to appropriate money for the purpose of deporting Black people.

And what was racist about my post?

Lincoln was a tri-racial isolate from the Melungeon group, as am I and DCandtheUTBand.. Lincoln was red-white-black. Look it up.

Why did Lincoln risk so much to free slaves if he hated blacks? This is a new one on me.

Lincoln hated blacks? Is this another of those 'the republicans of those days are really the democrats of today' bullshit spins from the left?

Lincoln abhorred slavery, period. He believed the entire institution was evil to its core.

I've heard stories, but I've never seen proof, that Lincoln "intended to send freed slaves back to Africa," specifically to Liberia according to some. I asked an American History professor many years ago and he said that Lincoln was willing to consider sending slaves to Liberia, on the Federal Government's dime, if it meant that we could end slavery in the United States while also avoiding civil war.

Not sure if that's accurate but it always made sense to me.

Looks like John Bolton Is ready to blow the top off of more Trump misdeeds. The guy is a scumbag but has the inside scoop. I’m sure it won’t surprise us NeverTrumpers but you Enablers will come running to Trump’s Defense, as usual.

Famous Melungeons include Lincoln, Elvis Presley, Tom Hanks, Ava Gardner, George C. Scott, and Heather Locklear. Locklear's father is Lumbee and works at UCLA. Presley claimed Cherokee but historians say Lumbee likely because of grandparent surnames and origin.

Former OU basketball coach Kelvin Sampson is Lumbee.

I am of Liberian-Congolese descent.

Melungeons were discovered in Tennessee circa 1640.

Detail for us how Trump matches up with the Godmother of the Clinton crime mob.

With none of the "Lincoln hates blacks" fairy tales.

I'm reminded of brother AJ in Houston. At Tea Party rallies, AJ can shut down news cameras just by walking toward them. News pretenders want all to believe all Tea Party members are white supremists.

What part of what you quoted isn't true? It's well known that Lincoln didn't consider slaves to be equal to white men and he wanted to ship them all back to Africa.

From Lincoln-Douglas debate #4 :

September 18, 1858, “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,”

Here's some other fun facts about Lincoln courtesy of the History Channel:

Or maybe he wanted to ship slaves to Africa to reunite them with their families? That suggests he valued them as human beings, you seem to be suggesting the opposite?

My point is that Lincoln wasn't some sort of abolitionist saint. He understood that the USA couldn't survive without the South, and he did what he had to to keep them part of the Union. the Emancipation Proclamation was a military tactic.

By pushing the South toward secession? That's how he wanted to keep them part of the Union?

He didn't just suggest sending them back to Africa, he also looked into colonization in Central and South America, which would indicate to me he wasn't necessarily interested in sending them to be reunited with their families.

Trump has done the same thing with illegal immigrants. He doesn't hate immigration, he's trying to discourage illegal immigration.

Sounds like this might have been Lincoln's strategy as well, in trying to discourage people from buying slaves in Africa, then shipping them to the US.

What is with the revisionist history? Lincoln was an abolitionist who wanted to incrementally end slavery and to prevent its spread immediately.

See the Lincoln Douglas debates for Illinois Senate.

What he felt about blacks on being 100% equal is a little more nebulous. It's likely he felt that integration was not possible in the America of that time. His support for sending blacks to other countries was to prevent them from being treated as second class citizens.
