And btw, a guy like Bill Maher should be lauded. Not because I agree with everything he says but because he is honest with himself about everything he believes. He may be wrong but he holds himself and others of a like mind to account.

I love Bill Maher. I always said that he's not afraid to criticize both sides. So you don't have to tell me about him.
Bill Maher is still a liberal and has no problem sticking it to Republicans. But the difference I have seen in him over the last several years is to not be tied to every talking point or position his party has taken and has no problem calling them out when he feels it appropriate. I think he's a lot like Carville on the big shift his party has taken to the left and he hates it.
Besides this latest opinion on Covid, he has spoken out against wokeness and even challenged AOC to come on his show for a debate. He despises cancel culture. He has spoken out over what to call the China virus. He has no problem calling it where it came from. He has called out liberal media on their unfair coverage of the Israel and Arab situation. And he has been attacked by the left for some of this stuff because the left is the party of toleration. LOL!

Agree. He and I have VERY different views but a lib with a somewhat open mind and the ability to call BS and not be afraid of the nazi like, left-wing cancel culture because he didn't remain lock-step with the jack-booted arsehats, is a rare thing indeed.

Cancel culture has only been around a few years as we know it today. Bill Maher's show was not called political correctness, but called politically incorrect. But you came closer than I expected. Maher was not cancelled. He was fired 20 years ago for saying the 911 hijackers were not cowards.

I’ve always liked Bill Maher. To me, he is a real liberal—the kind that believes in maximizing personal freedom with a modest social safety net. I agree with him more than most prominent Democrats these days.
I wouldn't go so far as to say I like him but I do respect his desire to call BS, as he sees it, no matter where it comes from. I still have major disagreement with his worldviews but he seems to be honest, even if wrong-headed, in my opinion.
