BS we wouldn't have even gave him half of that and if Miami gave him anywhere in that area they are nuts. I think the real deal is lower than that.
And didn't UM pick up a QB from the portal a few weeks ago? And does Rashada really believe he will beat out Tyler Van Dyke, Jake Garcia and Jacurri Brown? I don't know much about Van Dyke but the other two were also highly rated QB's when they arrived on campus. From the looks of this, Rashada is the most likely to hit the portal before any of them.

I would love to see the actual deal he got and if some things are dependent on results. That QB Miami had at the end of last season is pretty good so I doubt he starts as a true freshman unless it is being forced. People say that guy who claimed we offered a ridiculous 11 million is just a clown.

One of the Florida Gators' priority defensive line targets, Derrick LeBlanc, has moved up his commitment date, and placed Florida within his top teams list yet again.

The four-star defensive lineman will be making his commitment on July 28, and Florida remains a team within his top teams list, making the cut alongside Penn State and Oklahoma.

Demarkcus Bowman announces new school - UCF -after transferring from Florida

Demarkcus Bowman has found a new college destination just three days after entering the portal. The former five-star running back announced Monday that he’s staying in state and transferring to Central Florida.

His departure leaves Florida with a solid trio of backs in returners Nay’Quan Wright and Lorenzo Lingard and Louisiana transfer Montrell Johnson. Bowman was projected fourth on the depth chart.

UF also added a fourth player to the position this offseason in four-star running back signee Trevor Etienne, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne.

Gators Recruiting Class Now Ranked #17 nationally

What a difference a day Makes !

Napier’s bump class is now ranked No. 17 nationally with nine members and positioned to keep rising after hosting 34 total official visitors in June. Florida has missed on some of its out-of-state targets like Jaden Rashada, A.J. Harris and Tony Mitchell, but remain in contention for multiple Sunshine State standouts such as Cormani McClain, Derrick LeBlanc, Malik Bryant, Aidan Mizell, John Walker and Eugene Wilson III.

https://www.on3.com/teams/florida-g...ate-of-uf-recruiting-and-his-2023-bump-class/

The highest-ranked prospects in the class are Denson and four-star EDGE Isaiah Nixon, who flipped from UCF less than a week ago. Both rank inside the top 200 of the On3 Consensus and are top-25 prospects at their respective positions.

Additional top Gators targets are expected to come off the board in the near future as well.

Some of those notable names include EDGE Malik Bryant, defensive lineman Derrick LeBlanc, offensive tackle Payton Kirkland, running back Treyaun Webb and wide receiver Eugene Wilson III.

According to the On3 Consensus, the Gators are trending heavily for LeBlanc, Wilson and Kirkland.

Napier's thought on this Recruiting Class

We gotta figure out this NIL puzzle and we’re in the process of working hard at that.

“And we’ve got the pieces. “I’m telling you what, the future is bright,” Napier said. “And we’ve got an unbelievable product to sell here. The history, the tradition, we’re a top-five university that has an incredible alumni network, our location and proximity to players. Gainesville, Florida is a special place, and I do believe that game day in The Swamp is one of the most impactful things that we have to sell. We’ve got a new facility on the way and our administration is committed to our infrastructure.

But I’m convinced more now than ever that we’ve got what it takes to do it here. And again, I go back to the analogy and the comparison to the players.

It’s about being diligent, it’s about following through, taking action, doing the little things right each day to position ourselves to finish strong in recruiting. Got a lot of confidence in the people that we have here to get that done.”

Tebow,

While he isn't Wilbur Marshall or Mike Peterson, BUT he is a fast athletic LB / Athlete.

Omosigho is ranked No. 412 overall and No. 35 nationally at his position according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 503 and 25, respectively. Both assign him a three-star rating. 247Sports’ standard assessment ranks him as a four-star linebacker, sitting at No. 20 nationally at his position and No. 43 overall in the state of Texas.

Rashada's Recruitment - was there malpractice, if not outright wrongdoing by someone involved ?

I am NOT an "Insider" & don't know how accurate these statements are; perhaps they are like Trump's allegations of Election fraud - unproven & unprovable.

BUT strong statements for a conservative organization like USA Today to make !

"...First of all, it’s becoming clearer and clearer with each piece of news about Rashada that there was likely malpractice, if not outright wrongdoing by someone involved, although who exactly to point the finger at is still muddy. In a world that is still distrustful of NIL payouts to college athletes, being on the business end of a potential investigation by the NCAA is a situation the Gators no doubt want to avoid. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t land their guy, but it’s better to stay clear of any potential discipline."

https://gatorswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/28/florida-football-billy-napier-open-letter-recruiting/

As always, the centerpiece of the situation - the player with his hand out - will get away scott free.

Holding a "Booster" or a "Lawyer" accountable will not happen either.

Odds are that the NCAA will not even investigate.

Orlando native Cedric Baxter Jr., released his top four schools and a commitment date on Tuesday.

Among the schools were Florida, Texas A&M, Miami and Texas.

The plan for Baxter is to commit on Aug. 10, sign during the early signing period and enroll at his school for the spring semester.

What is Billy Napier's “Inside Out” Recruiting Strategy ?

When he and his staff got to Gainesville, they wanted to take an “inside out” approach to recruiting. This means that they wanted to prioritize landing players out of Florida, before reaching across the country for top tier guys.

To this point, all 9 of UF’s commits in the 2023 class go to high school within 350 miles of Gainesville. This does include one player from Georgia (Aaron Gates) but still shows how Napier has successfully implemented his plan.

Why Is This Valuable?

Being able to lock down the state of Florida is the first step to re-establishing the Gators’ prominence on the recruiting trail. In the past few years, schools like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio St, and others have been poaching top Florida talent from the in-state schools.

Anyone remember Howard Schnellenberger & his recruiting of South Florida high school talent by building a metaphorical "fence around Miami" and recruiting only the "State of South Florida."

Napier thinking bigger than that, building a fence at the FL-GA border ! LOL

No out of state recruit is going to see UF as a respectable school unless we prove that we can grab the top in-state talent as well.

Having a consistent presence in the state of Florida may be enough to make a great recruiting class by itself, given how much 4 and 5 star talent there is in the Sunshine State.

WR Eugene Wilson III Sets Sights on Two Teams - Gators & aTm

Wilson, 5-foot-11, 162 pounds is currently rated as a four-star prospect, ranked No. 146 nationally, No. 24 receiver and the No. 29 player in the 2023 recruiting class, according to On3 consensus. Wilson is among the fastest receivers in this year's class, running a 100-meter race in 11.36 seconds.

For Florida, Wilson would offer some much-needed speed in space, something the program has been searching for since losing receiver Kadarius Toney to the NFL a couple of years ago. He has been heavily recruited by Florida receivers coach Keary Colbert and recently participated in an official visit with the program.

None of the big 3 will be locking down the state of FL anytime soon. Now the reason is NIL while before it was bagmen and coaches like Saban and them having more pull than our coaches after Meyer. Napier won't lose any recruiting battle because of the other coach I think.

Something that nobody here seems to be considering with the NIL BS.

How many of the 100+ on the roster have any hope of getting any of that NIL money at all? And how will the one's that do, affect the attitudes of those that don't?

Well some think that NIL might lead to a lot of the better teams having depth issues eventually if the other schools are willing to throw some cash out there.

Insta,

Some will obviously get much more than others, but I thought that was the reason for the classes & the suits being given to the players - so that they could market themselves to the Collective & other prospective employers.

Many of the collective members are loking for players who can be good employees after they graduate; not just to put some money in a players pocket to help recruit him.

Raylen Wilson decommits from Michigan

https://michigan.rivals.com/news/2023-lb-raylen-wilson-decommits-from-michigan

Michigan's 2023 recruiting class has taken a major hit as the Wolverines lose arguably one of its best prospects in the class.

4* linebacker Raylen Wilson 6'2"; 213 lbs from Tallahassee Lincoln
announced via his Twitter account on Wednesday that he has decommitted from the Wolverines.

Wilson made an official visit to Florida over the weekend (June 10-12) and was at Georgia the week before, according to 247Sports. He says he’s still committed to UM, but there’s also room for schools to chip away at that commitment.
https://gatorswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/13/florida-football-recruiting-raylen-wilson-official-visit/

Wilson is the No. 119 overall prospect in the 2023 class and had been committed to the Wolverines since December.

The subtraction of Wilson from the class leaves the Wolverines, a 34-11 CFP semifinal LOSER to UGA, with six commitments in their class, which currently ranks 60th in the nation according to Rivals' rankings.

all this seriously makes me wonder why you shouldn’t do it? I mean, if there are no consequences what’s the point? The football team should be seen by the university as an extremely valuable asset, and one that can bring in an almost limitless amount jf money. The on-field success increases the value of the asset, so you kind of have to play by the rules that are being set. It’s ridiculous and probably not sustainable for any length of time, but If we want to compete on the field we may just have to acknowledge the fact that it requires ponying up. Get some really sharp negotiator to head it up, and we have enough money to compete with anyone. I know Billy can’t get involved directly, but he has to know this and understand that the NIL stuff has to be as on point as a hitting else. Let’s be honest, last year jr the year before, and Napier has a top 3 class already without having the NIL stuff to deal with at least based on the reports we keep hearing. If the guy is blowing their socks off in visits and we still miss on some guys we felt good about, that tells you there’s only so much a recruiter can do. If you can get them on campus and amenable to signing, that’s about as much as you can do. I think he’s a smart guy though and he’ll make sure it gets straighetented out.

Paco,

That was the other OV he has listed so far; so you could be right. But he has 3 more OVs left so who knows.

Decommitting from one school seems to put a big target on your back (Hey; I need a LB & I see one now !) for the other schools to take a shot at.

And, as always, a COMMIT means nothing; its when you SIGN that LOI that counts !

UF increases football spending by nearly $5M, recruiting budget up 55%

The University Athletic Association has increased football spending by $4.72 million to $90.2 million, according to the Gators’ 2022-2023 operating budget obtained by the Orlando Sentinel through a public records request.

The additional spending is highlighted by a 55 percent increase in the recruiting budget, raising it to $2 million. According to a 247Sports report in October 2021, Florida’s recruiting budget ranked 14th nationally at $1.27M — more than $2 million behind Georgia’s nation-leading $3.6 million.

EDIT.

A year or so ago, I made reference to the disparity in recruiting budgets between UF, Bama, & Dawgs. A frequent poster on this board (name with held to protect the &*%**) pointed out that Mullen & UF didn't need to spend as much money on recruiting becauce of all the top talent in the state & the reduced travel cost it afforded us.

I pointed out that most of that "great Florida talent" was going elsewhere - Bama, UGA, Clemson, tOSU, etc.

Looks like Napier has also noticed this talent drain & is doing something about it !

With the 55 percent jump under Napier, UF is now one of about five schools with a recruiting budget of $2 million or more, along with UGA, Alabama, Tennessee and Clemson (according to the 2021 figures). However, unlike those programs, the Gators don’t pay to fly out their coaches for in-home visits.

The UAA’s ownership of two private jets, a $3.3 million Phenom 100 and $8.5 million Phenom 300, and an aviation department budget of $839,000 offsets some of the costs tied to recruiting travel.

Napier received a salary pool of $7.5 million annually for 10 full-time assistant football coaches, an increase of $2.7M. He also has a salary pool of $5 million annually for other football support staff members, such as recruiting personnel.

Billy Napier previews Utah game, shares thoughts on scheduling openers

Zach Abolverdi•05/17/22 - a bit dated but still interesting

Following a 1-2 start, the Utes upset No. 3 Oregon 38-7 during the regular season and then defeated the Ducks 38-10 in
the Pac-12 Championship Game to win their first conference title in program history.

Utah lost a 48-45 shootout to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and finished 10-4. The Utes return experience on both sides of the ball, including quarterback Cameron Rising and running back Tavion Thomas, and added former Florida linebacker Mohamoud Diabate via the transfer portal.

Billy Napier has a difficult matchup in his Swamp debut against Kyle Whittingham, who is entering his 18th season as the Utah coach after replacing Urban Meyer.

Walker was initially planning to pull himself off the market on Oct. 22; however, like Osceola teammates Derrick LeBlanc and Ja’Keem Jackson, he is now ready to put the recruiting process behind him.
All three will be making their commitment on the same day.

Probably not to the same school, but you can always hope that all three enroll in the School of Dentistry & give the Gators some new Teeth !

Rashada's Recruitment - was there malpractice, if not outright

I am NOT an "Insider" & don't know how accurate these statements are; perhaps they are like Trump's allegations of Election fraud - unproven & unprovable.

Just stick to football Jeff, because you are obviously not competent to talk politics concerning the already proven stolen elections...

If you'd like to discuss your 'stolen election' ignorance further, then come to the 'Parking Lot' and we can do so there....
