Heard there is a Freeze warning in Florida tomorrow

Already got the bad news that Kelly Bryant is transferring to Missouri.

Can't believe that.

Stidham announced earlier he'd be going to the draft, Auburn makes more sense for him.

Supposedly.... From the nerd insiders.... Freeze is pretty much a done deal...again, this is from the "insiders" and apparently some wr coach named Heard wants in if Freeze comes here.

Lol well now that Locksley has accepted the Michigan job, I find it hard to believe that Saban won't move Freeze to OC.

His rehab program is real.

I’m assuming you meant to say Locksley to Maryland. Your point still stands. Afer the season Taggart just had and the ineptness that was displayed I’m not sure anybody takes a job on his staff at this point unless they think they will eventually get his job.

Yeah, obviously.

Too tired for my own good. I literally thought I typed Maryland.

But yeah, the only reason Freeze would take the FSU job over the Bama job (if both are offered), would be because he thinks he's going to replace Taggert there.

USC seems to have oddly made the same move.

Everyone expected Helton to be fired, but instead, they hire Kingsbury to bring in an air raid offense to Southern Cal (which should be a brilliant move.)

That conference doesn't really have an identity, and USC is the most legendary, classic, and high profile school in the conference situated in a talent hotbed.

They could dominate with the air raid.

And if that happens? Don't be surprised to see Helton get booted for Kingsbury.

Huh? Thats like saying Mullen wouldnt take UF because of the offense here last yr. This should be a job people want because its an easy stepping stone back to a head coaching position, plus, apprently we are willing to throw big money at the right OC

Ummm Mullen took a head coaching job at UF. Much different than taking an OC position. Not an apples to apples comparison at all.

I think I'd rather suffer through another season with Taggart then go with Freeze. Freeze has serious baggage and his last season at Ole Miss was no better than Taggart's first at FSU. Plus, firing a head coach after a single season is tacky, unless there is some kind of scandal to justify it.

If things don't improve by end of next year, there will still be good coaches out there who would take the FSU job in a heartbeat.

You say that, and yet, you just hired Willy T.

Freeze would likely bring a MASSIVE improvement to fsu with him. That offense could be scary good with the current wasted talent in Tallahassee.

As I recall, Chip Kelly, Scott Frost and Dan Mullen were already taken by the time Jimbo decided to hit the road. Taggart wasn't a leftover. He wasn't even on the market. FSU actually went and courted him and bought him out of his contract.

And out of that list, Taggart had the second best season (to be fair, that's like being the second tallest person in a room that contains three midgets and Shaquille O'Neal). Though, Nebraska definitely turned things around at the end. Mullen was the only one of the bunch that was an unqualified success.

I’m just saying that hiring a coach is a crap shoot. No, check that, it’s a minefield.

If you’re talking about replacing Willy in the short term there’s no guarantee of upgrading. Take it from us.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t replace him. I am saying that he was the first coach that was hired from outside the staff since 1976. Fsu fans don’t have any real experience with the pitfalls of coach hiring. Look around college football. It ain’t easy.

Alabama’s championship coach Gene Stallings retired afte 1996. They went through Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, Mike Shula and Joe Kines before they hired Nick Saban in 2007. That’s 5 coaches in 10 years that had a combined 67-55 record.

I agree. I’m the one arguing in favor of keeping Taggart for at least one more season, and preferably three years if the second season shows some improvement.

Hiring Freeze may or may not improve things on the field, but it will make the school look impatient and jumpy, which will make it more difficult to hire in the future. And Freeze’s record at Ole Miss has an asterisk due to the multiple recruiting violations. How good will he be once he can’t buy recruits and has to compete with UF, Miami recruiting the same turf?

If our OL can go from literal worst in the power 5 to below average he will look like a miracle worker. Hopefully Freeze signs and Howell sticks to his commitment.

What are you talking about? Frost had an undefeated season and Mullen was 8-4. Taggart was batting around .500. Chip Kelly was on TV. Frost was courted by Nebraska as Mullen was by Florida. Chip was the only one out of the 4 without a coaching job.

Freeze didn't do anything recruiting that all the big schools don't do. He made Ole Miss relevant and is one of the best offensive coaches in the country. You take that and run if you can get it, especially considering the state of y'alls offense.

Freeze got into a twitter “war” with “Karen in Key Largo” from the Bill King Show over FSU this morning...

He is probably going there, but good golly...like really?!?!?!?

I dont think that is actually freeze and karen is a troll.

Yeah I think that’s right. Ole Miss made a substantial financial commitment to the program under Freeze. They built some state of the art facilities, and the coaches were top notch recruiters. I’ve had a first hand look at all of that. Any illegal “benefits” that players received were in line with other programs around the country.

The whole hiring escorts and misappropriating funds thing I won’t defend. I was actually really surprised by it based on my familiarity with the program and coaches. Just didn’t see that coming from Freeze.

I cant believe FSU would be interviewing that man. I say let them have him. He will mess up again. I like to believe the most and best I can in people, but he just seems to not get it.
He has had trouble following him since he coached in high school, allegedly.
Working around youth programs, kids - the onus is not “guilty until proven innocent.” Its “avoid anything that brings that type of thing into your program at any cost.” If he was proposed to come to Florida - I would write a letter every daggum day until the cows come home. I would literally be beside myself.

Mark my words, he will get your program in trouble before its all said and done. I don’t like the fact he’ll maybe flip a Gator or two if he lands there....but the fact is, in the long run, he will be cancerous to your program.
